How bad/good is Cody Williams?

20 lbs on Cody is taking him from being a starvation victim to severely malnourished, he’s still liable to kite away in a stiff breeze.

yeah rookie Cody was prisoner of war to the Japanese in Singapore in WW2 skinny, 2nd year Cody figures to be more body double for Christian Bale in his next movie type skinny

Don’t doubt for a second he’s gained 15-20+ pounds. We’ll see how much of that he can actually keep on during the season.

BTW not generally a huge fan of young dudes bulking up at all costs. They’ll naturally gain weight with “man strength” as they got older. Get stronger, focus on recovery / mobility / injury prevention and I think the rest takes care of itself over the years.

it is pretty insane that as skinny as Ace is and he looks skinny af, he was 25 pounds heavier at the combine than Cody was despite being just an inch taller. really underscores how ridiculously thin Williams was last season.

the only guy's 6'6"+ without shoes who weighed less than Williams in the last 20 years are emoni bates and john butler. he was almost unprecedented thin.

the question is how much of his suck was related to being malnourished.

Hoping there is/was something to the whole "mono" thing.

THe good thing with Cody is... there really isn't anywhere but up for him to go. Lets hope he shows enough improvement in SL to give us some hopes for the time being.
This. There was a redraft grade on Youtube that was released today. He received an F. He's got to have a banger of a year or he'll likely be out of the league if we get a top 4 pick this year

As someone who dealt with lingering symptoms from mono (without realizing it) for several weeks, I can honestly say I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Yeah, he was Giannis thin entering the league but Giannis' family like... Couldn't afford food.

... Whereas Cody already had a millionaire brother and seemed to have a pretty normal childhood (normal enough for his brother to at least be pretty big in college)

It's very strange.

20 lbs away from being 20 lbs away

i don't see how his skinny frame is such a ****ing mystery Heaps of guys are naturally skinny through the late teens, all accounts are that Jaylen also went through this kind of transformation, but he was at college and came to the NBA at a later age when he'd already filled out

Is Cody going to be at summer league? You know working the concession stand, cutting oranges for the team and so on?

I've gone from having very little hope in Cody to having some optimism that he can thrive in a 3 and D role for us. He was decent last year defensively and seems to be putting in the work to get bigger and stronger. It will probably be at least a couple year process to get to his ideal weight but even adding 10 to 15 lbs of muscle can do a lot for a players confidence. In the pictures and videos posted recently he looks noticeably bigger so I'm looking forward to seeing him in person tomorrow.
