How is League Pass Broadband?

I just moved from Utah to Boston for a new job and now need a way to follow the Jazz. The place I will be staying doesn't allow satellite's so I was wondering how much League Pass Broadband is, and how good of a picture and connection it gets.

I had League Pass Broadband last year. The picture is HD quality depending on how fast your internet connection is. I don't exactly know how much the regular pass costs because I bought a "leading up to the playoffs" package for like $7.99 or something like that. It only included like 6 teams and the games that are broadcast in your local area are blacked out. You can only watch games from other parts of the country that are not on national networks (ABC/ESPN, TNT). It is still pretty good, though. I would recommend it, especially if you are living in Boston. The Jazz are only on national TV a few times a year, so you would be able to watch all of their other games on the internet for less than getting satellite or going to a sports bar.
 
It's good. Don't remember how much but maybe about $100 for the whole season.

The other good thing was that it always was the Jazz broadcasting team calling the game whenever they were on instead of the opposing teams.
 
It's good, problems from time to time such as them not showing the game until a half hour after it starts, or you click on one game and get a different one, but this happens very seldom.

And yeah, I remember having the opposing announcers only once last season, when we played the Suns at home and had that huge comeback. It was great because I love Boler and Booner.
 
I buy the whole TV enchilada but I have two MAJOR gripes with broadband. I DVR games and often watch them later in the same night. On DVR, that works perfect. Every now and then, I have to resort to the NBA website to catch games online. But since they post the scores right with the game, I have to squint and put pieces of paper up so I won't find out the outcome. Getting to the start of a game without knowing the score is colossally difficult. My second big issue is the rewind/fast forward feature which works terribly. Good luck trying to skip the commercials. I'm always dragging the status bar forward like a surgeon and I still come out minutes ahead of where I want to be.

I think they make it suck on purpose. But it's better than not having the games so that's something.
 
This year for the summer league games they gave you an option to not show the scores, hopefully that will make it into the NBA League Pass version of the software as well.

I dumped cable and I don't want a dish. I do live in Utah and have a PS3 with broadband. Can this combination be made to work somehow?
 
The quality isn't great -- but it's good enough to see what's happening.... Last year I watched every game of the regular season and playoffs via internet streams. So that's an option for you if other things don't work out.
 
I have league pass via cable, which gives me online access too, and the times I have attempted to watch a game online, it took forever to download and it froze quite a bit. This happened to me on a number of occasions using different computers as well.
 
They need to follow MLB.TV's lead. MLB.TV is streamlined where they offer you a choice of which broadcast you want to listen to, plus a bevy of other options. Plus, it has a cool app for the PS3 where you can watch through that device. Two seasons ago, NBALP didn't offer HD, so I'm glad someone mentioned that they did last season.

I didn't notice this. That would be a huge improvement. But improving the rewind/fast forward feature is still critical. When I watch DVD games, I frequently rewind to watch defensive sequences, well run plays, or just highlight stuff. Online, you effectively can't do this. They could pull this off with a slow-mo addition, but they don't have that.
 
Its acceptable. The stream is HD resolution but highly compressed (read grainy). The small bitrate they use does help reduce buffering interrupts as long as you have a fast connection.
Last year they really cut off any extra bonus time such as pre and post game shows which I found annoying. They also jacked the prices to $80 for just 7 teams and around $120 for all the teams. Prices haven't been announced this year but I wouldnt be surprised to see another hike.
