I Booed the Hayward Pick and Now I am so Ashamed

I know that Kevin O'Connor doesn't read this board as much as he used to. But in the off chance that he is lurking today:

You were right.

It's not even 10 months later and I am not booing the pick.

I wish I never had booed the pick.

I should have cheered.

I should have immediately made my own Hayward #20 Jersey.

I should have had faith.

Nothing can change the fact that I booed the pick and then I laughed at you after you announced the pick and everyone else booed you too. That must have sucked. You probably felt like we all had no clue about evaluating talent or running a basketball team.

I should have saved my boos for Deron Williams.

God bless you Kevin O'Connor. I'm coming to the draft party again this year. And I will cheer.

Even if you draft Jimmer.

I starting watching the Jazz during the 03/04 season. Since then I have been furious about two Jazz draft picks (in order of level of furiousity):

1. Deron Williams
2. Gordon Hayward

I may be retarded.

I agree he played great against the Lakers; however, even a bind squirrel finds a nut some days. Don't get me wrong, I am excited about his progress, but let's see if he can do this with some consistency.

blind squirrel? Dude's 19 and hasn't backed down from anyone all year. You should give him time to put his game together. He's fearless, smart, skilled and has length. He'll be awright.

On the much anticipated draft day, upon hearing the words "the Utah jazz select Gordon Hayward..." I felt like someone had taken a dump in my stomach.
But I'm not a proud man and I'm now quite happy to digest that ****.

I think what's got most people excited is that the type of game he had against the Lakers should be something he can replicate on a consistent basis. It wasn't as if he just got hot and couldn't miss - everyone will have a night like that during their career that will overinflate perceptions (see Miles, C.J.) - it was that he played above average defense on Kobe and was able to dribble penetrate and finish or assist, a combination of which we've never seen in our SG. Horny was the last to do this at a productive rate, but besides the great shooting, Hayward looks to project better in every other area of the game - and who knows, maybe he can become just as good a shooter as Horny.

I was pissed too - because we needed a big man, or Xavier Henry. Nothing against Hayward's potential. I started to see the light the day O'Connor traded for Big Al.

Yeah I was hoping for Paul George for Ed Davis. But IM extremely happy with the potential that Hayward has showed these last few games! And just think Dwill hates him!!

And im excited to see another thread like this in a year with us all talking about How much we hated the 2 picks when there were drafted but how much we now love the new look of the Utah Jazz!! Go Jazz!!

Honz, where are you?
You've been hating on Hayward even before we picked him.
It's time for you to eat some humble pie.

(for those of you thinking I am serious... I'm not. I am almost never serious.)

I registered just so I could post how much crow i'm eating. I wasnt a fan of hayward from the beginning but last night's game really shows how much his confidence is improving and what a difference it makes.

ALL HAIL THE WHITE MAMBA!!

As someone who really liked the pick, it's nice to finally see what I thought he could do. All he needed was some time.
