Why are we so obsessed with trading one of our "bigs?"
Kanter hasn't played in a year. Even if he had, he'd have only ONE year of college ball under his belt. Sure there are a FEW bigs who come into the league ready to play 30 mins. It's way more likely Kanter would play 10-15, increasing to 20 as the season progresses. I also don't think Favors will be ready for 30+ this year. He's still raw. So between the 2, that's like one full-time player for THIS season. And as much as we'd like to put Okur back in the mix, there's a very good chance his career is done. So Favors, Jefferson, Millsap and Kanter...there will be enough PT for all 4. You need three for a regular 4/5 rotation (96 mins total). And what are the chances all 4 would play in all 82 games?
Okur is gone after the season, even if he can play. Jefferson's contract runs for a few more years. That would be perfect, coinciding with the time it will take for Favors and Kanter to become legitimate starters and reliable scorers. No reason to trade anybody, IMO.
