What's new

I'm just glad we didn't draft Devin Booker

Lyles would be a good pick still if he was a good defensive player. As of now, Utah Definately screwed the pooch by passing on Booker. Hard to cry too much with Utah drafting Gobert and Hood though. Only the completely unrealistic fans expect to nail every pick.

with our lack of FA presence, we pretty much need to if we ever want to contend.

Don't forget Burke. And that wasted TWO picks. DL has missed a couple of times. Which as pointed out, is fatal when you can't attract quality free agents and won't spend to get even average ones.

Thee jazz fan was right! Lyles was most definitely the better pick for the Jazz. Glad we passed on a 6’6 wing that has scored 16ppg in his last 10 games shooting 38% from the 3, because had we drafted him, we wouldn’t be able to see ~30 minutes of greatness each game from Joe Ingles and Chris Johnson!

38% from 3 pt is hardly anything to be overly giddy about

What percentage would say is realistic? Does your percentage increase if the GM makes drafting a point of emphasis and works out 80 players every summer before the draft?

Yep, I agree, if by contend you mean making the playoffs with a seed higher than 8.

I'm not sure Booker will be a better player than Lyles on the long run. Booker will probably stay only a good shooter and not much else. What you see now is what you'll get. Lyles probably has a better potential.

Why the hell the Jazz didn't draft Devin Booker knowing that Quin's offense is just shooting threes?

Too easy to blame only DL, surely he consults with Quin to complete the roster and for the draft.

80 percent of the people on this board were all excited when the Jazz moved up to get Burke.

Booker certainly is playing well but it is way too early to get depressed over them passing on him for Lyles. At least wait a few years before claiming Lyles a bust or an inferior player.

Once our Booker goes, Lyles will have minutes to show he has a nice set of skills. Lyles has shown nice potential when he plays minutes.

They didn't draft Booker because they thought Lyles would be the better player later. Jury's still out but they're probably right.

This.

I wonder who PKM was excited about more between Booker and Lyles since they both went to UK and he had front row seats watching them practice, etc. (or does he not do that anymore?)

Since becoming a starter Booker has shot .324% from 3. He is also the worst defensive wing in the league and one of the worst defenders in the league. Now in saying that he is young and will no doubt improve a number of areas in his game, however at this stage he is definitely over rated.

And Lyles one of the worst defensive bigs in the league, and an awful rebounder. What's your point?
