Is Ace Bailey the best draft prospect in Utah Jazz history?

The question as I understand it is "is ace bailey the best draft prospect in jazz history?"
So let’s imagine there was a draft thread on jazzfanz when jokic was drafted. How much hype and discussion do you think there would have been in that thread about jokic? Im guessing almost zero because he was not a very good draft prospect.
That’s fine, but if a single person, fan or draft analyst, had made a scouting report about what Jokic could be (would become) based on the skills he had as a prospect, would that then change things?

I suppose it has to be a ‘consensus’… back to bowing out

This isn’t best player drafted it’s how they were perceived coming into the draft. DWill was only considered an early pick after his ncaa run he was if I recall at one time mocked between late lottery to early 20’s. Stevenson was drafted in the 20’s as for Kanter I remember being pissed we finally had third pick and the best we could do was Kanter and it was perceived as a weak top of the draft other than Kyrie, so I wouldn’t consider Kanter. In my opinion Ded Ex was the only prospect that has a chance at the top spot. He I remember got a lot of national attention. And was being comped to some elite legends. Kobe and Penny and a couple others.

Nah, how good a prospect is, is based off lots of peoples opinions. If one person said that jokic would be an nba mvp one day but all the other persons said he wouldn't make it in the nba then he wouldn't be considered a good draft prospect. Ya consensus is a big part of this topic of discussion.

Its not really all that complicated. You could think of it as how much hype the player has if that makes it make more sense. Is Ace the jazz draft pick with the most hype headed into the nba in jazz draft history could be another way to ask the question. When you look at it like that then guys like gobert would obviously have had no where near the hype of Bailey.

Karl Malone was an absolute stud coming out of college and top 50 all time. Stock and the original Bailey were pretty damn special as well. Darell Griffith was second overall and had a nice run. I guess we’re not counting Wilkins as we had to sell him to stay afloat but we did draft him.

Only time will tell but I think he’s going to have to be generational to move to the top of the Jazz pantheon. And nowadays, if he is, he’ll probably be moving off to greener pastures to cash in.

I remember how much Jan Vesely hype there was here.
I've been following this board for a long time now. There have been so many guys that get hyped on this board who end up as complete busts. Yet somehow every poster has a flawless record with the few wins getting brought up on repeat.

I don't care enough to keep track. I just know that any poster who thinks they are some draft genius is typically just someone with a selective memory.

Remember that tstisvilli dude? (his name was insane to try to spell. I think his first name was nikola?)

Am I the only one who gets uncomfortable with the disconnect between the hype around Ace and what he looks now as a player? Because what I saw was a player with a very limited bag and who is not smart on both offense and defense and who, as a result is often forced to take tough, well-defended shots. Oh, and his passing is also very mediocre.

If that is the best draft prospect in the Jazz history...
