Is Burke a Top 15 PG This Year?

For the record, I was really high on Burke coming out of college. Then, during his rookie season, I bit my tongue for most of the year, even though I was seriously underwhelmed in almost every way from day 1. By around game 60, I was dreaming of trading him for a draft pick.

I'd be happy to eat crow. Very. But I'm not going to reverse my skepticism until he proves what he's showing right now. Talk to me after 60 games.

Yes, he played well in the preseason, so I expect him to be an all-star soon. Unless he plays badly in the next game. Then I'll freak out about how undersized and slow he is, and whine about the foolishness of having drafted him. But then he may follow it with another good game, in which case...

Its pre-seasons dudes, and he started well last year. Lets hope he is good, top 10-20 would be fine by me so that we do not have to pay him a huge amount.

Point guard is too deep for him to be top 15. These guys are unquestionably better than Burke.

There are a handful of guys that most would say are better than Burke (think Jrue Holiday and Jeff Teague), and a few guys that are probably in the same realm of Burke (Rubio, George Hill, Brandon Knight, Carter-Williams, Darren Collison). It would have to be an UNBELIEVABLE improvement for Burke to be considered top 15. Not saying it can't happen, but it would be a great season for Burke even if he was considered top 20.

Based on that list, I don't think Burke NEEDS to be a top-15 PG, or even set his sights on that goal. What we need him to do is play with pace, improve defensively and shoot 45%. If he can do those things, I'd be happy with him (and I've been one of his harshest critics).

What gives me some hope is that after struggling (AGAIN) in SL, he's been MUCH, MUCH better in preseason. I know it's only 3 games, but so far, Quin looks like COY for what he's done with this group.
