Is this D-Fence?

Would that change if it wasn't a dunk but a one handed runner or tear-drop or floater (whatever) from a smaller gaurd ? Because in that scenarios there is a chance the shot is a miss and Perkins is now a threat on the rebound while the corner 3 threat is momentarily nullified.

Perkins slid under before that would have been Foye's decision to make. Foye isn't boxing out Perkins that far under anyway.

That's one great player, against a few pretty good ones. Pretty much sums up our team, season, and place in the league.
Hayward, Sap, and Big Al are all to blame on that play.

plus a dunk is a momentum changer

...not true. Dunks are so common in todays NBA that to say they change momentum is ridiculous! Some times the team with the most dunks loses! Don't know if they keep a stat on that....but it would be interesting to find out!

In descending order of responsibility for the dunk:
Corbin, Hayward, Millsap, Al

With the rules the way they are, sometimes you can't help those types of plays. However, I wish Al would have put Russell on his *ss. If we were coached by Doc Rivers or Thibs, you know that they will get physical with those types of players.

If we had Fesenko instead of Al Westbrook would find himself in pain under the backboard. Frankly, not sure how I feel about these type of plays but sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do.

I think we all thought about this, and I'd love to see more of it in the right situation. However, with where Westbrook took off from, and where Jefferson was in response, that would have been a dirty non-basketball play. Jefferson is real slow responding as usual, but I'm not sure he would have been in position to put a hit on even with quicker feet. Besides, getting there faster should be enough to deter the driver, hence the utility of Favors.

If that's Favors instead of Jefferson in the game this play would have been much more difficult for Westbrooke to complete. This is a great showing of how undercoached the defense is. Hayward over runs the play. Jefferson is way late reacting to the play. Millsap is in no mans land, He is not challenging the shot and not defending the corner. If this is the Spurs Millsap's man in the corner gets a wide open 3. Mo went over the screen instead of under. At the point the screen is set that was the easiest option. But if he goes under he is in position to help on Durrant instead of completely out of the play.
.
While this is a tough play to defend the way it is ran. None of the Jazz players seem to make the "right" decision.

Looks like Hayward slid when he tried to plant his foot causing him to over shoot Westbrook and allow him to turn the corner. At that point we are SOL. Al just doesn't have the speed to get outside the circle and wasn't going to be able to challenge that shot at the rim. Bad defensive play but those happen at least a couple of times every game.

Trying something new on Tip Off - I have grabbed 5 defensive plays from the last two games we will roll through talk about rotations etc

Good. I enjoy this stuff and the local media don't go through it and it has resulted in an uneducated fan base.

This play shows how great a job Corbin does adjusting plays to his players abilities. This set OKC is running is a pretty simple play, yet you never see the Jazz running it because they don't have the small forward talent, and Mo isn't the best penetrating threat either. Hayward is too small to run the screen roll, and can't pop out to hit the jumper if the drive isn't there -- at least not yet. Marvin hasn't shown he's capable of running these types of plays either.

Chalk another one up in the Corbin Success Column! Guy is a pros pro when it comes to adjusting to player abilities, especially as the young guys grow into new ones.
