I honestly think Philly/Spurs being in the top 4 is actually great news for Utah.

Yeah it's a bummer we didn't get into the top 2, but I'm not that upset about 5 vs 3.

Spurs/Sixers being in the top 4 gives the Jazz clear trade partners for high picks if they can work something out.

I wish the Spurs got the 4th pick, as I think it would be extremely easy to work out a Lauri deal. Them being at 2 makes it a bit trickier if they are going to play hardball, but I genuinely believe the Spurs want Lauri a lot, so I think a deal can be made.

Maybe it ends up being Lauri for Castle and future picks instead of just #2, but a deal can get done.

This is a character building moment for the tank.

The NBA thinks they taught the Jazz a lesson. We got to just tank harder.

Trade Lauri to Philly or San Antonio for another blue chip rookie prospect.

Go to the Bucks and offer Sexton/Collins for Lillard and some sort of pick compensation (maybe just a pick swap. Not sure how much you can really command from them).

The Jazz can then "ethically" tank. Play an entirely young roster without having to manage any loads. Maybe the Jazz overachieve and have like the 5th worst record and the lottery gods smile on us.

I think that trading up to 3 is a very real possibility. Even if you love Ace, you'd probably have to admit that a high pressure situation to win immediately is not the greatest place for him. There probably isn't a guy less intrigued with the pullup middys than Morey, it's literally called Morey ball for a reason!

For reference, DAL traded up from 5 to 3 with one future, top 5 protected pick. That pick ended up 10th and was probably in line with what you would have expected.

I think Morey would target Kon at 5. I was about to be fully Kon pilled until @Handlogten's Heros said the term "court mapping". GTFO with that cringe my man.

Bro. I setup the term and used it intentionally. Was listening to Vecenie say it 100x one pod and lol'd. Intentional cringe.

Was out walking my dog and listening to you guys. Yeah, our draft result obviously wasn’t what we hoped, but getting #5 shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, since we had 47.9% odds for it. This year #5 is still a solid pick, and we can grab a prospect with star potential (or close to it) with it. You mentioned we could use our #21 pick to trade up for the 3rd or 4th pick. I wouldn’t do it. I’d probably go with Kasparas with our #5 pick.

my one caveat, i don't want to trade up from 5 to 3. i want both 5 and 3... thus Lauri could be a very good bargaining chip...
