I mean, Memphis put him out there and surrounded him even trashier players because they wanted him to fail. Seems kind of hateful and spiteful for no reason to hold him responsible for that.

The biggest concern, imo, is the lack of rebounding. That guy should be a board vaccuum. He should have no problem averaging at least 8 per game. Double digits should be his goal every game. That is a concern, and could become a real problem given his role on the team. With Nurk or Kessler on the floor at the same time, it isn't as big a deal, but I could see that being a real limiting factor going forward.

Also was it just my limited opportunity to watch the whole game, or does he seem to really take some plays off, like more than most? That was a bit underwhelming thing to see. Again, I didn't get to see the whole game, and obviously not every person is on every second of every game but it seemed that fairly often, too often for my liking, he was content just to sit and watch rather than get in there and get his hands dirty.

Yeah, that's JJJ, pretty much.

His comfort zone (besides a ball-stopping post-up) on offense is having everyone else clear out to the sides, coming in as a trailer, getting the ball at the top and then forcing an improvised dribble attack against 1-2 defenders (at this point the defense has collapsed to the paint because they know Jackson won't kick it out in time).

Sometimes it works and he gets either a bucket or free throws, but mostly it's an incredibly predictable play that every defense sees coming a mile away. It turns the other players into spectators and forces them far away from the basket, which means an almost certain defensive rebound if JJJ misses.

As for his discomfort zone, that's... pretty much anything else. Jackson is a reluctant passer and doesn't move without the ball. The less said about his "rebounding" the better.

He can still get a block or two per game and is generally a good and switchable defender for a big, but whether or not that's worth $50 million per year is another story.
