What's new

Jaren Jackson Jr. traded to the Jazz

Specifically regarding who was included and who wasn't included I would be fascinated on how that conversation went. Did MEM value Hendricks/Clayton Jr, or that was just who we were willing to give?
I'm guessing they mainly just wanted the picks..
They are apparently doing a complete reset similar to what the Jazz did when they traded Rudy/Don.

It's a pretty big underpay imo
He will be owed 50mil a year until 2030 and by no definition is that an "underpay". The likes Watson, Black, Ayo are now all out of the window and we just made an Kess extension really really difficult. And in reality it's really our 2026 first in the deal too cuz acquiring JJJ makes it almost impossible for us to stay in the bottom 8. Memphis will for sure surpass us in the L column now.

they won't play JJJ. he's always hurt anyway so the league won't even look twice.

We're going to have Keyonte, Lauri, and JJJ sandbag the rest of the season.
But why? If we keep the pick it just gets traded. I guess we keep the Cleveland pick in that case? The incentive to retain the pick has gone down dramatically, yes? I’m not misunderstanding the deal?

If we win the lottery this year we give that pick to Memphis…?

Edit: okay I am wrong

The Jazz loved JJJ during his draft. He was probably one of the top players available according to the Jazz management internal board (which they have and update constantly) and bolsters the defensive options while being able to stretch the floor. If it really does this to our team for many years to come then it is worth it. I loved the idea of JJJ on the Jazz. This is going be so fun! Let's hope we find creative ways to tank still.

50 million in 2030 is going to be like 35 million now
