What's new

Jazz at Trailblazers 4/11 @8 PM Mountain Time

I think people are comparing him to the wrong player. Kobe he is not. A very young Tony Parker is a better comparison imo.

Just imagine it's only Sara Jean in the picture

I love her

How many 19 year olds played against worse competition than he did?
Why didn't the jazz realize that the horrible competition is what made exum look so good and draft a player that actually is good rather than one who only looks good against horrible competition?

I'm drunk. Go Jazz. Was Portland's home court advantage guaranteed before this game? If not, we're gonna start kicking some mfing *** next year.
They still had to catch the Clippers iirc.... but us beating them made it impossible for them to get home court advantage now

I don't remember the exact number, but if I'm not mistaken, prior to this season, Exum has played 23 games against high level competition.

So much for the excuse that exum didn't play against any competition before this year.
23 games is somewhat close to a year of college ball

He reminds me of Michael Redd, but more athletic. Redd put up six seasons if 21+ ppg (high of 26 ppg in one season) on 45% FGs. Those are lofty numbers and I'm not saying Hood will get there, but I agree with you that the potential is there.

I think a cross between Michael Redd and Rip Hamilton.

I think they did. It was a swing-for-the-fences pick. He was regarded as the BPA AND at the greatest area of need for Utah. If he turns out to be a bust, I still think Lindsay had to take that shot, especially given the projected starters and rotation players we already had.

You are correct and I feel the same way tbh.
I remember being at energy solutions arena for the draft and when it was our turn to pick I thought the jazz had to take dante, even though I was not very high on exum.

Felt the same way in the Burke draft..... didn't like the pick but I totally understood why they made it (I wanted cj McCollum but trey was regaurded by the experts as the better player)

Here's a question. If the Jazz don't take Exum, who do they take? Smart? 7 pts, 3 assists, 36% FG, 33% 3pt. Stauskas? Randle? Vonleh?

Maybe Smart, but didn't he say he didn't want to be here? Did we want to go through Kanter again? Could you imagine Kanter and Smart (two players that didn't want to be here) in our locker room?

For those of you anti-Exum people, what should Utah have done?

I think the choice was between Randle and Exum. We already had Favors, Gobert and Kanter. Randle has health issues.

Utah made the right decision to draft Exum. I think it was a no brainer.

Smart plays 26 mins a night. 36% FG. 33% 3pt. 3 assists. 7 pts. 11 PER. 0.494 TS%.

Exum plays 22. 35% FG. 32% 3pt. 2.5 assists. 5 pts. 6 PER. 0.457 TS%.

Marcus Smart has played better, but not leaps and bounds better.

Oh, and Smart played two years of college ball and Exum took a year off.

Exum has two years to hit Smart's numbers this year. I think he will do that.

Ya like I said, it was the right pick for the jazz to make. Unfortunately there just were not a lot of great options available.

I would hope so! Smarts numbers suck too. If exum in three years is only as good as marcus smart is right now then I will not be happy.

I don't think any of the jazz fanz who are criticizing exum are saying that smart is the bomb and we should have drafted him instead cause he is a surefire star in this league
