Jazz @ Blazers 8:30 PM MT Game Thread

Ok.Rudy was bad, Royce , Niang not much better, Clarkson with berserker mode taking 20 shoot's in 20 min and we gonna need 1 more basketball in game if this continues.Bojan took only 11 shoot's for 22 points Q.S. need to figure out something really fast

Starting Conley results in
1) Joe frozen out
2) Rudy frozen out
3) Royce's defense wasted on the other team's reserves
4) the return of the floaters

How many pick and rolls did we run with Joe and Rudy tonight? Feels like the fewest we've run in a couple of months.

Lillard had 11 assists tonight? Seems like Conley don't have that many the entire season...

Stop the hate. Conley was good tonight, except in the fourth when he looked gassed.

1) Joe had to defend Dame all night, thus he had a limited role on offense. He looks fatigued.
2) Rudy played soft. Got his *** kicked by Whiteside. Couldn't defend or grab rebounds. Tried to make cute finishes around the rim instead of going hard (went for a hook instead of a dunk after a pass by Conley). One of his worst games of the season.
3) Royce couldn't play defense tonight, even against their reserves. Was terrible on offense too, missing wide open shoots. It is fair to say he should have played fewer minutes (Niang too).
4) Conley was unstoppable the first half. Floaters included. In the 3Q the offense was run through Bogey. 4Q Conley was gassed and missed a few bunnies at the rim (he had no legs and you could see his shoots hitting the front part of the rim).

Bogey played well on offense but was atrocious on defense. Niang and Royce were terrible on both ends. Rudy was awful too. As a whole, the defense was terrible...again. Also, it would't hurt Clarkson to pass the ball once in a while.

Anyone wanting a quick but detailed review of the game tonight, here you go. Couldn’t have said it better myself. Great post.

They can. Joe just looks gassed. And tonight he had to defend Dame for most of the night. We need another switchy defender bigger than Royce.
I know he’s not much bigger, but Iman Shumpert. And Noah Vonleh.

We were playing **** teams. The win streak was fortunate for Gobert and Mitchell as it fooled a bunch of people into thinking we were a better team than we actually are letting them both get in. We should really only have one all star attending this year, in retrospect.
We've played 1 good team during the losing. We beat the 1 good team.

we need to make some changes at the deadline

We need an athletic defensive backup 5. Someone who is capable of guarding the perimeter and protecting the rim. Bradley and Davis just aren't it. Bradley isn't ready defensively and Davis doesn't fit the system.

Our defensive scheme is built around running offensive players off the three point line and funneling to the center to force midrange shots. But when either of those guys are in the opponent licks their chops at the opportunity to attack the rim. This problem is magnified because we've traded defense for offense at the 4 in the offseason. Which isn't a bad thing. But it makes having a good defensive 5 on the floor at all times critical.

I wish we could get someone like Nerlens Noel.
