I'm not a fan of this win folks....

For one, it's a one point win against the Kings. Why do we play DOWN to the level of our competition? I get it, we can't play with the same intensity that we had against the Heat and Lakers every single night. But come on, there were times when we just weren't executing or focusing.

Secondly, Favors only got 21 minutes... He was down right dominate defensively. Despite playing fewer minutes than Jefferson, he did register more rebounds and blocks.

Thirdly, CJ has reverted back to his jumpshooting (not attacking the basket) ways. Sigh...

Lastly, Big Al and Paul didn't get to the FT line. Ummmm.... You do this against 90 % of the league, you lose.

So yay, it will register as a W. But tonight wasn't winning basketball IMO.... Too many jumpers, sloppy defense, no Favors when it counted, terrible offensive execution in the 4th, and bigs weren't rebounding or getting to the FT line...

There's a shocker. Maybe you'rejust embarrassed that you predicted a 20+ point loss.

Look at what a team like OKC did with theirs...

You don't like the Min. Example? Fine, look at the warriors, I think they've made the playoffs like once in the last 7 years. How many times have they blown up their team. I understand you want to build through the draft. Guess what we did that. We have 4 lotto picks, two #3's a #9, and a#12. We have our future core in place. We need to develop them, build them up, and build a support cast around them. The best way to get the most out of the young talent and develop them is to win. It's impossible for young players to get better if they only lose, and never make the playoffs.

The draft is a gamble. KOC is talented, but no one gets it right 100% of the time. My point is that you don't take winning for granted. Just because OKC got very lucky with their picks, means nothing. Injuries, team chemistry etc. can always throw our perfect OKC model out the window. If they're a playoff team, then they should win, and go from there. Use trades, but don't lose on purpose. 100% energy, winning in close games, playing D, making big shots will improve the youth more than anything. OKC doing it has little to do with us.

And yet, you felt the need to provide the Minny example.

Sounds to me like YOU believe that OKC has little to do with us because it blew up your example.

The Jazz need more talent, especially at the wing positions. We were locked down by Sacramento in the 4th. If you really feel like playoff teams won't do that to us, then I have real estate in Florida to sell you.

We need more talent and this draft is deep. Nothing is guaranteed, as you said. But so are the playoffs. Using your analogy, Favors and Burks could get injured in the playoffs. What happens if their injuries prevent them from playing into next year. Losing in the first round while losing young players to severe injuries is a negative in my book.

So nothing is guaranteed.

But I think many Jazz fans would rather have us play to win right now, try and improve, develop the young players, and still be in the lottery rather than be the Thunder or Mavs' punching bag.

I for one would rather have us gamble in the lotto than knowing that the season will be over in 4-5 games once the playoffs begin.

this isn't the d-will boozer teams, they weren't going to get any better. This is a new era of jazz basketball. There are 4 lotto picks already on this team with lots of talent and potential, who have hardly began to tap into the high potential that they have. As they gain more experience and more minutes they will evolve into a very good team, unless they never learn to win as a team or lose confidence unlike the jazz of the past 6 years this team hasn't reached their ceiling, not even close. This young team reaching the playoffs and being able to have success will help this team more then a lotto pick and becoming even younger and continuing to rebuild.

I don't think you throw young players out to sink or swim irrespective of what they're playing for. Kanter sucked last night. I say don't leave him out there to get practice and help us lose by 15. We only have around 20 games left, and our draft pick would be relatively high anyway. As long as our youth are getting some good minutes, like last night (Hayward: 36; Favors: 22; Burks: 21; Kanter: hopefully more than 12:30 if he's playing well), then they should win, not lose. Jazz have to find their own path, and they're on the right path. Now, if Favors doesn't get over 30 minutes a game next year, I'll be pissed because he's ready. Burks should also play big minutes, and hopefully Kanter can eventually start to increase his minutes. There is no sure way, and the Jazz have options through trades etc.

The argument that our young guys will turn into losers if they don't make the playoffs. Seriously, if the young guys quit after missing the playoffs then we should just trade them. Now there are advantages to making the playoffs only if the young guys play. Sitting them on the bench or taking them out when they are playing better than the veterans seems more harmful to their confidence.

I would be fine with the Jazz making the playoffs if they played the young guys more. In the end I want to win a championship or two and the only way to do that is get more talent. Yes the draft isn't the only way to do it but it is the best way in a small market. To say we will turn out to be the Clips or the T-Wolves is ridiculous. The Jazz have a better run organization than both of those team. FA has proven to be just as uncertain and even more risky financially and team chemistry-wise.

Last night's game highlights the major problem the Jazz still have. The lack of outside shooting and the inability of guys to make shots. I was happy the team won because they showed mental toughness after blowing the lead. The win also helped out with the GS pick so that was good. However, I am completely against winning at the expense of the young guy's development. It is time for Ty to just tell CJ his minutes are going to be limited. THere is no reason to bring him back so why play him. Same with Bell.

And Al got 26 points in 35 minutes. Some of you guys should learn to appreciate that our bigs have different skill-sets. Favors is a fantastic player, but offensively he has got tons to learn and Big Al was very, very good tonight. Having Al, Millsap, Favors and Kanter together is a blessing for this team, not a curse. They all learn from each other and a trip to the play offs this year will do wonders for everyone - including us fans.

I can appreciate that thought. I have been a huge "trade Al" guy but tonight he didn't do the normal hold the ball and shot over a triple team. He played well with in the O. Hats off to big al, good job.
