Erdem Can has been a top assistant coach for a while in Turkey. Worked under great coaches, including Obradovic from who we nicked quite a few plays. It has been surprising not to see him land a head coaching job in Turkey but may be that was not his plan as he has been a part of Jazz's summer league team for a long time.

Jazz has been leaking talent the last 2-3 seasons so it's nice to see them making a solid move.


 
You can spell enema rearranging letters in his name, which is exactly what this coaching staff needs.

Turkish twitter ablaze at this hire. From some English tweets among these, it sounds mostly like well wishes to Can, messages to Utah about how great he is, and (tongue in cheek?) warninings not to poach from Can's team again. For those who read Turkish, are there any other main themes?

Fenerbahçe has been a target for NBA teams for some time now so it's a running sentiment.

Bojan and Bogdan Bogdanovic, Ekpe Udoh, Melli, Guduric come to mind as well as Igor Kokoskov getting poached by the Mavs. They are getting tired of it for sure.

Lots of people were expecting Erdem Can to step up as head coach but it's really a hard sell to bring in a first time head coach in Turkey. It's championship or bust every season for a club like Fenerbahçe.
 
For a Turkish / Fenerbahce basketball fan, there is always a connection with Jazz organisation
-Okur : never played for Fener but known as a fan.
- Kanter: we started hating him even before you heard his name
- Bojan: Fener was his last club in Europe before coming to NBA
- udoh: after MVP season in Europe he changed his mind in last minute and signed with Utah. It was very disappointing for us.
- Kokoskov: our head coach last year
- Erdem Can: great character- 7 years with Obradovic and 1 year with Igor, he will surely contribute.
