What's new

Jazz trade Damian Jones to Cavs

Jones had no future here. Cavs are needing a Robin Lopez replacement for cheap, who might get 5 minutes a game behind Allen or Mobley
Pretty much this. Utah and Cleveland have done a lot of business over the last few years, so think the Jazz were doing them a bit of a solid while getting to 15.

This feels like a move before a move.

Tony Jones says it's about getting the roster down to 15 players. I thought we were already at 15 or less but I just confirmed.

Roster:

Hendricks
George
Sens-a-bag (typo?)
Clarkson
Tucker
Sexton
Dunn
Fontecchio
Samanic
Maarkanen
Kessler
Agbaji
Olynyk

Vernon Carey Jr. (Looks like he is guaranteed $100,000 next year)
Johnny Juzang (Two way player)
Michael Potter (Non-guaranteed for 2023/24)

FA:
Juan Toscano Anderson (I don't think he will be back)
Udoka Azubuike (didn't he sign elsewhere? I don't see us bringing him back)

What am I missing here... Looks like we have roster spots. I don't see us at 15.
Collins

  1. Sexton
  2. Dunn
  3. THT
  4. Ochai
  5. Clarkson
  6. George
  7. Sensabaugh
  8. Lauri
  9. Fonteccio
  10. Hendricks
  11. Collins
  12. Luka
  13. Kessler
  14. Olynyk
  15. Carey Jr

That's the 15 currently. Luka and Carey Jr are fairly safe beta to get cut of Utah brings in anyone on a guaranteed deal.

Juzang, Potter, and Hauser are the current two way contracts.

I liked what I saw from Jones; long, athletic mature player, good pro, luxury bench dude, thought he'd be useful.
Not a good basketball move if nothing else good happens with the added cap space.
Still confused on the 16-15 roster spots...
EDITED: I just saw Saint Cy's post... I completely missed Samanic/Carey contracts...
