Jazz vs Clippers: Round 2

Most teams don't have a good enough team or contenders simply don't have the personnel to employ a six man that is dynamic enough like a Ginobili.

Most teams simply start thier best players.
Ginobli might be the ONLY player in the nba who is considered one of the top 3 players on his team and comes off the bench.

Ginoblis situation is extremely rare.

Lillard would make a great 6th man and would probably win the 6th man of the year award every year. Portland could have made him a 6th man when he came into the league and kept him in that position and he would have flourished. The reason they didn't? Hee is thier best player at his position. If the blazers had cp3 or steph curry then maybe lillard would be 6th man cause he would no longer be the best player at his position on his team

Who do the W's have that would make a good 6th man.

Curry.

He would dominate 2nd units and win the 6th man award every year

In order for Lillard to thrive in that spot is for him to have been brought into the league as a off the bench player. Lillard would become a locker room distraction if Portland all of a sudden decided to bench him.

Who gets brought into the league as an off the bench player?
Most nba players were stars and starters on thier college teams

What if sitting Burks makes the starting unit 3% worse, but makes the 2nd unit 20% better? He can still play the same amount of minutes and finish games.

The only negative connotation is admitting that the 2nd unit doesn't look like it will be very good offensively. It doesn't speak bad about Burks in any way, and, in fact, is a great compliment to his playing ability.

I don't believe it will happen, however.

98% of rookies start in a bench role

That means alot of them get promoted to starters.

I don't see how that means that teams keep one of thier best players on the bench to be thier 6th man.
