Jeopardy Question

Ya and I did some more checking. I looked at houston, memphis, and the clippers (and then got sick of looking stuff up) All three of those teams have 3 players in the starting lineup that take allot of threes. So im probably wrong and the spurs/heat teams are exceptions.
Seems that Burks does need to take more threes in order for the jazz to have a similar recipe to most good teams.

Those Spurs/Heat teams had a couple HOF players. We don't. And Duncan actually does spread the floor, he could hit the mid range jumper when they won. Heat title was a different time, the game has changed a good amount since then.

Burks would be a better and more efficient player if he took more 3's...if anything, it would make driving to the basket easier for him.

That is why I have been saying that it doesn't work for the jazz and that Burks and the rest of the team probably need to take more threes.

I agree with this. I don't think Burks is confident he will make them.

Also, burks has been very good this pre season..... Maybe our best player (not saying much though)

Another reason he shouldn't be starting then.

Our pg shooting blows and since Hayward will be the focus of the defense (along with Favors), we need someone who can spread the floor.

Bring Burks off the bench as instant offense.

I definitely want to try Burks as a starter (especially since Hood doesn't seem to interested in passing) because I think our best potential is with him starting, just start shooting some damn 3's.

It's not systematic, Quin isn't telling players to pass up 3pt shots. He has actually been yelling at players to shoot 3 pointers, he did so very audibly to Burks and Hood during the pre-season.

The only players that have the "Pump fake an open 3 and drive into a crowd" bug are Millsap, Booker, and Burks. Millsap and Booker are really mediocre shooters, so it's less disappointing when they do it. Burks has the opportunity to help his team improve one of their biggest weaknesses but is scared and hesitant to do so.

not systematic - referring to Quin's system, but rather systemic, by which i meant that many of the players on the team have that "pass up the 3" mentality.

If Burks wants to play winning basketball he should embrace shooting a bunch more 3's .. he has a terrific shooting stroke and play a more orthodox and controlled style. I think his circus style is far more suited to 6th man Vinnie Johnson type role. 25 min / game scoring 16-18 PPG leading the bench dimwits freelancing it would be an excellent use of his skill set.

Last night burks took 2 three point attempts (both misses) and we won! It worked!
Of course we took less threes than denver and still won by 20 points.

So far this pre-season we have won 3 games. In all three games we attempted less three point attempts than the opponent.

In the only game that we attempted more three point attempts we lost and it was our lowest point total of the pre-season (81 points)

Small sample size in games that dont matter of course.

Well I like that Burks attempted 2, in a way he actually attempted 3, but his foot was barely on the line. He missed them all, but I don't care, they will eventually fall because he is a decent 3pt shooter.

Overall I thought everyone did a better job of just shooting the 3pt shots they where given. Neto and Burke especially took their spot up attempts with confidence, even in the face of token closeouts.

Millsap is still scared ****less to take a 3 pointers, but he may just be legitimately awful at them.

Ya neto trey Hayward and alec all took multiple threes and all except alec made a good percentage too. Hood only took one but it was due to foul trouble more than anything. We all know he will hoist them up (and hit a good amount)

And Hood doesnt get sagged off nearly as much, so he some games he just gets less looks because of how the defense plays.
