What's new

Cody needs touches and dribbles in order to stay engaged.
So does everyone. The trouble is, you get those touches and dribbles by consistently showing signs of life.

Cody needs to understand that to be the NBA player he probably is in his own head, he first needs to be someone he's not. That's the only way for guys like him.

Whether or not he has the desire is very uncertain.

It’s a great contrast to see Ace play alongside Cody. Ace acts like he *deserves* to touch the ball and if it’s not coming his way he’s pissed, offended, activated—and then he goes after the ball in a high energy scrum to go take it. (Ace has actually been a great teammate and hasn’t sent any signals about being mad about touches—other than his highly active off ball effort, which is what I’m really talking about). But Cody, he’s so very understanding for why he’s not getting the ball, indeed why he shouldn’t get the ball. He doesn’t want to offend, or get in anyone’s way, or step out of turn until he earns or deserves it. I hope Cody sees soon that his approach will have him playing in China before he knows it. I hope he gets pissed off at the lack of touches, offended by people trashing him and laughing at him on social media, and he decides to go balls-to-the wall hyperactive every second he’s in an NBA game. Otherwise, he’s going to sleepwalk through another season, or 2 if he’s lucky, and be out of the league. Meanwhile, Ace will be fighting like a very angry French Bulldog to get that ball and do whatever the hell he wants to do with it—-on the way to being a star.

Thank god we didnt end up with Kon.

He will end up a solid pro but we needed to swing for the fences.

I never thought Kon was worthy of a top 7 pick. I liked Tre a lot more as well.

Cody's extra muscle is helping him immensely. That said I doubt he deserves much playing time once the season starts. Ace, Taylor, Kyle and Lauri will eat up all those minutes.

I know Kyle's defense is lame but offensively the guy can ball. I don't know if he can be a Robin on a contender but he can definitely be an Alfred (third option).

It was nice seeing Collier drop dimes to Kyle and put together a nice scoring game. I expect him to do better under pressure - he strikes me as being a competitor and hard to break.

I'm interested to see how they are distributed when we are healthy. We have so many youngsters right now that need consistent minutes to develop. This is how I would like to see it when completely healthy. Add in injuries though and you will see guys minutes increase overall. Odds are when healthy we see more of a 9 man rotation with 2 of Brice, Harkless and Collier being the odd men out. I have a feeling they give Cody a long leash to start the season but he could be out of the rotation after the first month if he isn't showing a little something.

C- Kessler 28, Flip 20
Pf- Lauri 30, Hendricks 18
Sf- Ace 28, Hendricks 4, Brice 16
Sg- Cody 20, Harkless 10, Brice 6, WCJ 12
Pg- Key 28, Collier 15, WCJ 5

It’s funny how fans have guys they like and don’t like as you read through the thread, if they don’t like the guy, so many comments about what they did wrong, basically crickets when they do good things.

I really hope He Hendricks gets more minutes than that but it's hard to see how he could.
Also, imagine what the minute distribution would look like if we still had Collins and sexton.
Really good thing that they are gone from a young guys development perspective.
