I did have to chuckle at the sheer desperation coming from the Issue Insights editorial board this morning. This is how they started their article:

Two impeachments, 88 felony counts (with guilty verdicts on 34 of them), a massive fine, two assassination attempts, unrelentingly hostile media coverage, a last-minute candidate switcheroo, and Donald Trump is still showing signs that he will win the election in two weeks.

Later in the article was this nugget:

"Podcaster Joe Rogan complained recently that “You can’t find a negative story about Kamala Harris on Google if you tried.” Meta’s chatbot refused to answer questions about the Trump assassination attempt. Amazon’s Alexa gave starkly different answers when asked the same question about Trump and Harris. The companies, of course, deny tilting their algorithms. I agree that the Harris campaign needed to articulate a different vision from the Biden administration. It was a huge issue. They were reticent to uncouple themselves, which was terrible, IMO. I think this was by design. The people at the top of the Democratic Party are full of unimaginative cowards who are massively out of touch with their electorate and these are the people who are running her campaign. I don't fault Biden himself though. He can share the responsibility.

Why would they blame Trump for losing? Unless they decide to accuse him of cheating or something (I could see a minority of whiny dumbasses doing this).

Who are they going to scapegoat to deflect their failure? The media? Palestinian protestors? Rural voters? Labor unions?

It is not the articulation of a vision that is the issue. Kamala is an awful candidate. By the time she was subbed in, the cake was already baked. Biden should have announced a year ago that he was not seeking reelection so as to have a genuine primary. I guarantee Kamala would not now be the DNC nominee if that had happened. The Democrats are stuck with Kamala because of Biden.

Biden's missteps go back much further than his decision to run for reelection. Biden should have never allowed the DOJ to go after Trump. There should have never been a raid on Mar o Lago. In the wake of January 6, Trump was disgraced. If Biden had kept the DOJ away from Trump, losing in 2020 and the January 6 riot would have been his legacy. He was embarrassed and his businesses were failing. That would have been the end of the book. Instead, they decided ending in disgrace wasn't enough, and in so doing they let Trump start writing more story where he was being stomped by the government's boot. Even worse were the prosecutions overreached which let Trump get some wins, and then Trump was not only the target of the government but he was proving strong enough to hold the government boot off. Biden's DOJ turned Trump into a people's hero.

Biden's ineptitude built Trump into a hero figure and gave him an opponent so weak that she couldn't have won the nomination herself. If there is one guy to blame for where we are, that guy is Joe Biden.

You are 100% right. I'm making light of it, but this is a real issue and it absolutely has been affecting me along with everyone. Higher food prices are harder on poor people, who spend MUCH more of their total income than more wealthy people.

We are in different situations as inflation in the U.S. has been less than what the world in general has experienced, by a significant amount. Inflation has still been significant. I know the price of eggs, milk, and gas are used because these are very relatable prices that we are likely to be familiar with.

I joke because people act like Biden did something that caused this, apparently for the U.S. and the entire rest of the world. There was going to be inflation following the COVID pandemic, even if Trump had been reelected.

Except… most working class people are making a lot more than they were under Trump. They’ve actually had a net increase in take home pay. Are we sure we’re basing these views off evidence or vibes?

Over the course of the last four years unemployment has disappeared, the work force is at full strength, and wages have increased. This past summer saw new records for travel. Restaurants are full and consumer spending has skyrocketed. Survey after survey have shown that people believe their personal finances to be much better than they were under Trump but suspect the nation’s economy to be worse. A complete paradox that I believe has been helped by the media confusing (disinforming) viewers.

Are we basing our economic views on actual outcomes? Or are we basing them off the media narratives and social media algorithms we’re fed? Remember now, the media needs Biden’s economy to be bad because he hasn’t fed them any controversies. And social media companies need you sad and angry, because that keeps you on their sites for clicks.

Studies are now showing what I’ve long suspected; reality no longer matters for millions of Americans. It’s all about vibes.

Housing, education, health, a night at a restaurant is an easily justifiable expense, a large mortgage without job security and the hope of promotion is another thing.

The reality is, most people under 40 are going to have a significantly worse standard of living than their parents. And just you ****ing wait until the price of global warming really starts to **** the economy, add to that in America at some point your going to have to start paying back your colossal ****ing debt you owe the world and ill give you a tip it wont be corporations or shareholders that do the heavy lifting.

But this isn’t the reality, you’re reporting on vibes. It’s a perception, fueled by boredom, untreated mental illness, social media, and entitlement.

People aren’t unemployed nor underemployed. Wages for working class people have been increasing more under Biden than they ever did under Trump.

Those most angry at democracy and fueling Trump’s campaign aren’t those who are struggling with housing or economics. If poverty is what’s fueling this anger, then we’d be seeing populists rising in poor countries when in fact, they’re rising in some of the richest. We’d be seeing poor working class people making up the bulk of Trump’s support instead of seeing the majority of his support coming from the highest economic brackets.
