Keyonte George’s Star Ascension

Giannis
Luka
Shai
Jokic
Wemby

That leaves three spots between Lauri, Sengun, Giddey, Deni, and Murray. Am I missing anyone? I’d say Lauri has a really good shot.
You are missing Amen Thompson. I know defense isn't flashy but he is the best defensive player in the league and should be a lock with how solid he has been offensively as well.

He went from the most flappable player to the most unflappable
Listening to him on the Old Man and the Three podcast the biggest change for him was mental. He said he has a delusional level of confidence in himself. We always knew he was a bucket getter and was a good player. It’s insane the level of jump he’s taken and how much more confident he is this year.

I love that we have this thread among all the threads where people whine about the draft pick or trash the FO and/or Hardy for whatever completely mindless reason.

At least some people in here get it. My son is the truth and the future is bright.

So much fun watching this version of Key. He definitely looks like a star in the making it’s fun to think about how much better he’s going to get over the next two or three years

Keyonte dropped 20 on him in the first half, what’s your point?
Maybe I watched a different game. You posted Key scored 31 with Thompson as his primary defender. He scored on a backdoor cut on Thompson and off a screen where Thompson got switched away and Key scored on Stewart in the paint. Those are the only two scoring possession I recall where Key scored where Thompson was his primary defender. That's my point.

Nice to see. Vecenie was so low on keyonte coming into the draft. A lot of it was about his lack of athleticism, and keyonte was fat. So in a way maybe kudos to him for spotting that lol

People act like Key was chopped liver last year. He averaged 17 and 6 as a one and done in his second season. That’s really good. In fact for those of us who were bullish on him, it was last year’s performance that gave us hope.

Was he flawed? Of course. Young players are flawed. But young players also tend to get better. 17 and 6 in his second year is a pretty damn good base to start from.

keys confidence was ahead of his experience and it made him force things his game wasnt clean enough yet at this level I thought he was a ball hog but he has proved me wrong he just always believed in himself even as a rook

It's very obvious that the game has finally slowed down for Keyonte. He now plays at his own pace and forces defenses to react to him, not the other way around.

A lot of it is probably just experience being converted into BBIQ, but his body transformation is a big factor too. Key is quicker, stronger and more explosive now that he's gotten rid of the baby fat. For some reason he reminds me of a mini Barkley out there.

(Bizarrely enough, they're actually almost the same height.)

Perhaps one of the craziest tidbits of Key's year so far, is that he currently has a higher TS% than Donovan ever did with the Jazz. He's 22 and Donovan was her through his age 25 season. So I mean Don was probably overrated. but dang
