I think Phil will be heading back to LA soon. It's just weird him being in NY while his wife runs the business side of the Lakers.

Horny being hired could signal that NY ownership is not on board with Phil's vision anymore. I don't think he was even around for much of the coaching search.

Excellent question, and yes I believe Hornacek will run the triangle. Let's not forget that just because that was not the chosen offense of the Utah Jazz, Sloan did run it from time to time and teams back then ran the triangle occasionally. Not to the consistency that Phil ran it, but it was something that every team, coach and player knew how to run and defend against. Today it is a seldom used offense, but that it because of the development of the game. In theory the triangle, "when ran effectively" would fit in great with today style of play. "Small ball and 3 point transition offense" would thrive under an efficient triangle offense. I think that Jackson's selection was one of wisdom and excellence with the selection of Hornacek.

Even though here in New York we are still very happy over the January 20th beat down we put on the Jazz, we are sure puzzled by Phil not doing any coach hunting. He wanted Rambis, period. Nobody else did. Not players, not ownership, not fans. This Hornacek signing definitely comes from owner Dolan's insistence.

We are definitely happy with the signing. Can't wait for the season to start.

I was in NYC a while back and came across a parade. Didn't realize they were still celebrating the Kiiks win over the Jazz, but I guess it makes perfect sense. A team with practically every advantage you could ask for should be thrilled if they are able to pull out a home victory over one of the youngest teams in the league from a market widely thought to have the most disadvantages. No wonder the celebration has gone on for four months now.
