It was another creative way that Utah football has honored the life of Ty Jordan.

Jordan died on Christmas night in Denton, Texas near his hometown to an apparent accidental self-inflicted gun shot wound.

Thank you to our amazing field and grounds crew for painting this 22 on the grass in front of our facility. The love everyone has shown during this time has certainly been felt. #LLTJ pic.twitter.com/iLI4xftUWe

Just west of the painted heart is the makeshift memorial that was started by fans on Sunday, who brought flowers, posters and Utah football memorabilia and placed it in front of the silver “U” that is just north of the main entrance to the Spence and Cleone Eccles Football Center.

The school, community and country have honored the life of Ty Jordan. The University of Utah lit the “U” on the mountain near campus on Saturday night. In the NBA, the Utah Jazz held a moment of silence before their home opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves. A Utah football fan started the “Ty Jordan Challenge” where fans sign up to run 597 miles between January 1 and the 2021 season opener. 597 represents the rushing yards Jordan had in his freshman season with the Utes.

The Pac-12 Network will air the final three games of the 2020 season on Wednesday night at 7 p.m., which were the three best games by Jordan. At the Alamo Bowl, Texas and Colorado held a moment of silence before the start of their game on Tuesday night to honor the life of Ty Jordan.

According to family members, the viewing will be held on January 5 in Texas. Many fans, players and community members will find ways to honor the life of a young man that had a bright future.
