Legit Effort

I really liked the effort in the game tonight. No slackers, Deron/Millsap defend Raja, Pushed the ball.

It was very encouraging. How the team responded to Raja drawing that flagrant 2 was actually inspiring.

It was nice to see Deron and Millsap both get in Smith's face. Whenever stuff has happened over the past couple of years it always seemed to be Deron getting nailed. And then Memo or Booz would just hold other people back. It's nice to see some toughness.

I think that was the moment that we needed as a team. Everyone rallied for their man, that's going to be huge for us going forward. It's time for a good Jazz run here, time to get it done.

The Jazz will need to win about 70-80% of their remaining games and still that will get them to the second round of the playoffs at best

Dude, don't bring jive like that around right now. Besides, the future isn't written.

Way to ruin a perfectly good buzz after a really nice win by the Jazz, you seem like the guy that drinks the last beer and then starts kicking everyone out of his house just as the party is starting to get good.

OK, the Jazz are poised to kick Thunder's *** tomorrow night. Happy?

If I have to be an optimist I would say getting a suddenly healthy and resurgent Memo back in March/Apr would prove to be a major difference maker.

Jazz can get to 4/5th seed. Likelihood of Jazz finishing 7th or 3rd is very low. So they will get most likely Spurs in the second round without homecourt but they will have the firepower to push it to 6 or 7 games and then anything can happen.

One good thing that can happen here is, the mental block that they have against the Lakers wont be a factor here. They swept the Spurs last year(even if that team was weaker). I think Al matches up well with Duncan. Will be tough but we might be able to do better. And what if Ginobli or Duncan are'nt 100% and we are? That might play a factor.

Yeah - good win - good effort - loved cj's defence on melo as well - was very aggresive - looked like he wanted to use his xtra bulk to see if he could stop him.

dont want to be negative - but we dont miss AK at all - ak just doesnt fit into this team - i am sure he will find a home where he will be effective somewhat - but the jazz are just not the team for him.

I think you're basing your assessment of AK too much on the Denver game. It was just one game which the Jazz played well without AK. I can think of many games where he was the spark or a major contributing factor to a Jazz win. Most recently in the game against Charlotte which he injured his ankle. He stepped up big time when D Will was out and can function as a playmaker for the Jazz.

If AK was on a "normal" contract, we'd all probably think less negatively. It's his ugly contract that is causing all his good performances to be overshadowed. But it's not his fault the Jazz wanted to sign him to a max deal.

I agree that could be a very defining moment for this season. Every team needs a moment like that to figure out who they are and who they can count on.

You are probably right - if AK was on a normal contract - he could probably play a bench role where he could play the role of spark rather than night in night out deliverer, which we currently expect him to be with the many millions he is earning. It was just nice not to see him to force up his ugly jumpshots for a change. I would also say that with him in the starting five - we have 4 players who are not outside threats (incl bell - even tho he was better agst denver) and therby clogs up the middle - I would seriously think about leaving ak on the bench and bring him on at the same time as CJ. But anyways, hopefully this denver win sparks the jazz to better things - one can only hope!

If we could sign AK to something reasonable after this season (4-6 max) I would say keep him. Otherwise package him so we get something out of it.
