Let's talk about Quin

What? Quin's offense is very creative and diverse. It's not just shot chucking. They are generating a ton of open looks off driving, and not just one or two main guys driving, the entire team drives to make open shots for others.
Yes but often they do the kick part to a fault. 3s aren't falling and someone drives, Gobert or someone else is open or in a good position in the paint, or even the driver is nearly at the rim (Donovan did this last game) and they turn and fire a rocket pass back to the 3 pt line. If the drive sets up a good shot at the rim they need to take it, not just robotically throw it back out. That partly explains them missing Gobert 17 times in one game. Last game Donovan was literally at the rim, had a simple lefty layup, but he kicked it out in mid-air and hit bogey for a 3 he then missed. They kick to a fault and it has bitten them more then a few times this season.

The song spends way more time talking about talking about sex than it does talking about sex.
Yeah of course dummy… the song is the invitation to talk about sex… the second and much less popular song on the album is called “sex”. That’s where they talk about sex. It was more explicit so didn’t get as much play.

The third song is called let’s talk about breaking up with someone… it’s a weird album.

It is the defense, player accountability, lack of adjustments etc., that are the issue.

The offense also stifles a bit when teams realize Quin trys for moneyball to the extreme. There was one clipper playoff loss where the team took exactly zero mid-range shots. When the area your opponent has to guard is the paint and 3, it makes it a bit easier for them. Also our zone offense (back to lack of adjustment) is not great.

I'm fine with lots of 3s, but would love to see a few other sets thrown it to keep opponents on their toes.

Sloan's sets made the defender work hard. His UCLA and FLEX wrinkles were excellent. So many back screens and cuts that if you relaxed for a second, there would be an easy hoop, and it wore down opponents.

I feel that moneyball is missing the impact of making your opponent work hard. Especially in a drawn out playoff series.
