What's new

Looking for genuine discourse re: Donald Sterling/NBA

What's just so sad sad sad is how he's going to lose his franchise over one freaking ugly woman.

So you mean to tell me he couldn't have hired some hot blond ditz off Santa Monica Pier to be his whore? What, was Pam Anderson out of town or something?

It's LA! C'mon! Shouldn't be that hard! The only easier place to get some hot action might be Wolverine Crossing or Belmont Condos. Hell, even a Lil Brother coed would work!

Easier than pie! Hot Apple Pie...

without his millions of dollars i have had hotter and more beautifull chicks then that.
heck i owuld go as far as saying they where all hotter

.....I'm sure, as a result, they will grow up to be fine, outstanding US citizens.....with a body loaded with jailhouse tats.....and a vocabulary centered around ho's, bitches, and 4 letter words of imaginable disgust!

Were it to come to that, I would prefer it to their becoming bigots.

Bigots (like you) and bullies who prey on the weak and vulnerable are the lowest scum of the earth.

people that get on their high horse are the lowest scum

people judging sterling and calling for him to be crucified. while they turn a blind eye to privacy in ones home.
turn a blind eye to nba players raping and assualting women. who shoot up strip clubs. and drive yunder influence.
those in my eyes ar elowest scum.

they should just step of their high horse and suck it

If that's your standard, it's a pretty poor one. Of all the personality flaws one might have, getting on one's high horse is surely not among the most egregious.

What to you is getting on my horse is to me calling out a poster here with a long record of racist/bigoted posts. It's not getting on one's high horse to make accurate observations.

Again, might I suggest that your standards are in need of some recalibration.

Ah, ok, if you say so.

Very ironic, given the tone of all of your recent posts in this thread.

what i autually mean might have gone lost in translation.

but people who are screaming for sterlings head and happy that he got banned losing team. should also scream for other nba players who beat and abused women.

maybe its not high horse thingy.

but more of hypocracy turning a blind eye to real physical harm

Like im stunned I really honestly didnt believe he could make it worse I mean this is an impressive feat to be able to to make himself look worse than what was already horrible. Like this has got to be his super power to be an ugly person inside and out and just when you think he cant do worse his super power comes in and he makes himself worse

Adam Silver: "I just read a transcript of Donald Sterling's interview with Anderson Cooper and while Magic Johnson doesn't need me to, I feel compelled on behalf of the NBA family to apologize to him that he continues to be dragged into this situation and be degraded by such a malicious and personal attack. The NBA Board of Governors is continuing with its process to remove Mr. Sterling as expeditiously as possible."

If you missed what Sterling said about Magic, here are his comments to CNN:

"Here is a man, he acts so holy. He made love to every girl in America in every city and he had AIDS. When he had those AIDS, I went to my synagogue and I prayed for him."

"What has Magic Johnson done? He's got AIDS. Did he do any business? Did he help anybody in south L.A.? I think he should be ashamed of himself. What does he do for the black people? I'm telling you he does nothing. It's all talk."

"I spent millions on giving away and helping minorities. Does he do that? That's one problem I have. Jews, when they get successful, they will help their people."

"And some of the African-Americans, maybe I'll get in trouble again, they don't want to help anybody. What has Magic Johnson really done for Children's Hospital which kids are lying in the hallways. They are sick. They need a bed. What has he done for any hospital? What has he done for any group?"

what is worse? he only seem misinformed about "teh aids".

sterling gave millions of dollars to the poor. amagic johnson did not.

only thing wrong with that interview is his ignorance of aids/hiv

Pretty much everyone knows that basketball players back then were super promiscuous, and even now they are. But sterling acting like he is better than magic is ridiculous. He is just older, and has less game. He was trying to sleep with the girl the same as magic did.

I watched the interview and I don't know how you can watch him and not pity the guy. He seems like a clueless old man. They exist. Sterling isn't the only one, and we're all headed there eventually. So I think it's kinda dumb that everybody's all up in arms about what he says publicly or privately. V. Stiviano is no one I want to side with - listen to her on the tape. I agree with what Kareem said about it - that just listening to it he felt like a sleazy accomplice to the crime being committed (recording the conversation).
And the whole interview Anderson Cooper was coaxing Sterling for more incendiary sound bites. And Sterling's a clueless old man who rambles some not wise ****. But is that a crime? I don't know what the NBA constitution says but I would think the US Constitution trumps it. Sterling hasn't broken the law. Even if he admits he's a racist - he still hasn't broken the law. This whole thing is such huffy self-righteous ********.

Something like this:

One of those documents, which Sterling signed when he first bought the Clippers in 1981, and signed various amended versions since, states that an owner will not take any position or action that will materially and adversely affect a team or the league. Owners also sign morals clauses, which state that they will be upheld to the highest standard of ethical and moral behavior.

When morals clauses are enacted and result in termination of agreements, including endorsement deals, the courts are often charged with interpreting who was right, but sources with knowledge of the NBA's legal strategy believe that they have enough to force Sterling to sell.

To me it's really clear cut. If he no longer has the capacity to adhere to what he had signed up for - then yeah it's pretty much time for you to hang up your gloves.

Also I would bet $5 payable through PayPal to the charity of your choice that you're not a minority.

I detest Maher, so I'm glad I'm on the opposite side of the issue from him.

Nice line at 3:38, jerk*: "I'd rather be a Mormon".

* talking to Maher, not to Maktub
