What's new

Looking for under the radar/small/lowbudget movie recommendations

Damn dude, you are seriously serious about your Batman movies.

For me it goes...

1) Christian Bale
2) Adam West
3) Val Kilmer
4) Michael Keaton
94) George Clooney (lol)

I respect if your list is different, but thats mine.

Dont forget Lewis Wilson who goes right before Clooney.

One off the radar type movie that I'm betting most around here haven't seen would be "The Way", dirtected by Emilio Estevez and starring Martin Sheen.

It's a spectacular movie about finding yourself unexpectedly.

Also, big props to GF's suggestion.... as that's an awesome film as well.

I watched Sideways last night, it was really good. Paul Giamatti and Thomas Hayden Church are two of my favorites and Alexander Payne is great also. Check this out if you havent seen it yet.

Redneck Zombies. You don't even have to rent it. It's up on YouTube.

Was going to put it up in here but would probably be banned if a Mod saw it.

City of God
Reservoir Dogs
Momento
Twin Peaks series
Blue Velvet
Usual Suspects
Rear Window (original)
Donnie Darko
Hustle and Flow
The Straight Story
Moon
Machinist
The Wrestler

...not low budget, but "Gangs of New York" and "In the Name of the Father" were both on Netflix streaming and are excellent.

Lynch fan, eh? Mulholland Drive should be on that list.

Random **** off the top of my head that hasn't been mentioned:

Biutiful
Mulholland Dr.
Beasts of the Southern Wild
Once
In Bruges
Days of Heaven
Magnolia
Boogie Nights
Punch-Drunk Love
Poetry
Mother
Shame
The Station Agent
Amelie
Mary and Max

One of my favorite trailers:

This movie is on netflix, btw.

For sure...put Dune on there as well. I didn't realize he hasn't put out anything since 2006 - Inland Empire which was beyond surreal

I'm planning on watching that soon.

Are you familiar with Maya Deren? I feel like she was a big inspiration to Lynch.

Before Sunrise (Don't shy away from this romance, it's quite thoughtful)
Before Sunset (See above (hint: it's great))
Sunshine (Epic)
Primer (Mind Bending but really hard to follow in just one sitting)
The Wackness (A solid coming of age movie)
The Man From Nowhere (Korea's version of "Taken", I thought it was better though)

Movies I want to see:
Bernie
Safety Not Guaranteed
There's one other, but I can't remember it right now.

No, hadn't hear of her, but looked up some shorts on youtube like "At Land" and could see some parallels.

Will be curious to hear your reaction to Inland Empire. I wasn't expecting the heavy psychological horror aspect of the film and I remember it taking me about an hour or so afterward to settle back into reality. Super draining but well done.

Was always curious to see Elephant Man, but not sure if I ever will.
