What's new

Lots of old Jazz games on VHS....

If prodigy doesn't do this I will. I have everything set up and have tons of experience transferring VHS to DVD. I just completed over 200 hours of home movies...HAHAHA!!

I'd love to do this at some point as well. At the parents house I have a box of older stuff. Mostly 88-91. When I lived in Utah, and recorded a lot of games.
I've got some classic games like the Christmas Day win against the Lakers....I believe it was 88. Then about 10 games from Boozer's first or second year with us.
Stuff like that.

My only worry is quality. What program do you use Prodigy? Your stuff looks great.
I have Pinnacle Studio.

Ok. Count complete.

I've got 42 VHS tapes all together. On average there are two games per video tape, but there are some with three and maybe one or two with just one.

Also stumbled upon the fact I've got a few all star games in the mix - 1995, 2003s (Jordan's last), and a few other slam dunk contests etc.

So. Yeah. Lots of basketball.

Sound like you are more experienced in this, you probably should do it, i honestly have only done a couple of these and I can't stop the recording(for the commercials) without finalizing the disc, so I'd have to use a program to edit the commercials out and burn the disc again. But JayQ just curious do you have a idea of what specific games you have?

prodigy what's your youtube account?

Sony Vegas and TMPGEnc

Well, have a lot of them.

Have most all of the playoff runs from 97 & 98 (Including the sweep of the Lakers). Have all the victories from the 1996 playoffs - that Seattle series that ended up going 7 (Bryon Russell's coming out party) My earliest game is from 1994 against the Clips, very shortly after Hornacek was traded to the team. They start to trail off a bit in the early 2000s. I have David Benoit's career high against the Spurs. (He was my favorite player when I was in high school - which in retrospect, I don't quite understand.)

They are *mostly* playoff games due to the fact Utah didn't get a lot of nationally televised games, but have a few regional games from the Lakers (Chick Hearn at the helm) and Chicago. (We got WGN in San Diego for some weird reason?)

Honestly this box has been sitting in a closet for ever and just looking through it today did I realize how much stuff is actually in there.

Does that help at all?

Yeah, I have it set up where I can cut the commercials out without finalizing the DVD. That way I can fit 2 games on a DVD while still getting high quality.

I'd be more than willing to transfer these onto DVD's but I wouldn't be able to fly through it. I work 12 hour graveyard shifts and usually only have a few hours during the day that I'm awake. It would be a slow process but I'd love to transfer them. I have about 400 blank dvd's so that wouldn't be an issue. The biggie would be shipping them. 40+ vhs tapes would take a bigger size box, but you could ship them media mail and save a little that way.

Where are you FatChipper? I'm in the Los Angeles area...they are all in a box, and it's pretty good sized. Sounds like we have a similar problem with finding the time. Hmm..

just an idea maybe those of us interested in a copy of the DVDs could help with the cost of shipping the VHS's to Prodigy

...he's going to have to front the money himself....but I'll tell you this: I'll pay 10 bucks for a single game dvd of the Jazz kicking the Golden State Warriors tookus during that playoff run a couple of years ago! He makes about 90% profit....since the dvd is only about 30 cents!
