I think that game point possessions would be way better than short game clock possessions.

Yeah, anyone who plays pickup knows how intense those possessions are. You could have 4 of those in a row in a NBA game (if both teams are within a basket of winning and they get back-to-back stops each), all being equally as tense as a singular last possession under the old rules.
