Game Thread Mar 14, 2022 08:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Bucks

Remember in the D-Will era when Deron Williams would hero ball the Jazz into clutch losses on a routine basis and we never won close games?

Of course you don't, because that team ran an actual offense in the clutch and actually allowed its clutch players to take shots.
Jerry Sloan baby!

In the playoffs Mitchell has been pretty solid in the clutch. He had the one playoffs that were not good in the Clutch but the rest have been solid.
Idk I recall plenty of bricked clutch shots and turn overs during the playoffs as well. Btw Mr.Clutch is even shooting around 50% on free throws in close games this season.

It was nice to see a competitive game against a good opponent, but definitely watched the whole game knowing the Jazz would end up losing. To be fair, they were down a starter and two rotation players. That said, even fully healthy I don’t think the Jazz win this game. There is something just not right about the Jazz this year.

Didn't watch but another game of Mitchell being a ballhog and Gobert being extremely efficient? Sounds typical.

Jazz got to figure out a way to get Gobert more shots.

I didn't watch the 2nd half, but in the 1st, Rudy was pretty worthless on both ends. Giannis went right at him. Lopez stretched him out. Offensively, he was his limited self.

bucks getting all the foul calls
Yep. Tried to point this out in the 1st half but got the usual resistance. Don got fouled driving about 5 times in the 1st half without a call. That **** matters in a game decided in the closing minutes. Players get in foul trouble, Don gets free throws, etc.

I don't know if it's Don or the fact that's its us. But if Don goes to NY like some of yall seem to want, I guarantee he will go to the line twice as much as he does now. Incredible he's a top 10 NBA scorer and only goes to the line like 4 times a game.

I just realised bucks have 2 2-way players who can score and defend at elite level. holiday and giannis.

jazz have none

- Great to see Conley have a good game.
- I finally got to see some minutes from the lineup I was looking forward to: Gobert, Gay, Royce, Donovan, Conley. It was pretty bad in the 2nd quarter, but really good in the 3rd quarter. I'm not sure why Quin decided to close with Clarkson.
- As an individual game, it's hard to be too upset about this one. We had some funky lineups out there and still played well and had a good chance to win against a great team. In combination with all of our other losses and 4th quarter collapses, this one was difficult.

Oh don’t get me wrong RM, I’m just quoting the metric, it’s not that I don’t think he’s a good player or anything. I just question the logic of iso or “Hero Ball” in those clutch, tight game situations. And let me be clear, this is about Snyder way more than Mitchell. I mean, where’s the sanity in repeatedly relying on a 6’1” point guard to drive and create down the stretch when the opposing team knows exactly what you’re up to. With a big bodied guy like a KD or Lebron it might make a little more sense but that shouldn’t be your go to move with a Mitchell. But regardless how many times he gets swatted or stripped, it’s right back to the well for Snyder every damn time. He’s intransigent. I consider it a character flaw on his part.
