Marc Stein: Jazz-Warriors discuss pre-Lottery trade (Source says trade "likely")

With that I'm torn. So I agree, to an extent. Understanding odds and being in a gambling group (I'm not), I look at it through those goggles. Odds against us this year. Level those odds out by getting unprotected next year. Playing the thin line odds .. so much more to it than that, for sure, but that's the starting point.

Odds, schmodds.... The odds were against the Ws before the last coin flip.

We can agree to disagree then. 'Cause imo, the Warriors are very likely to be better next year, thus changing the pick to unprotected moot.

Ya becasue, if that pick ends up sliding then you essentially traded it for garbage. Think about it... If we don't ask a lot and all we got back was some cash and what turns out to be something like a 14th pick in '13, then we trade the 8th overall pick in this draft for the 14th in next years and some cash. The only way you could assure you would feel good about what you have done when it is all said and done, is if you ended up with, like what wes is saying is the 30th+35th+14th in '13, if it went the other way on you and the pick slid. And even then you would still feel burned. It's a huge gamble. It's not like KOC to gamble. I think he pulls out unless he gets something really good from GS. I hope so anyways.

Where that pick falls on draft lottery night will make all the difference in the world in how everybody will look at this trade.

If the Jazz can get a pick in the top half of this draft, that would be awesome. We have a 28% with GSW's pick, and we need to cover the balance with trade scenarios. If GSW can help us, then fine, but who cares what they want...

PJIII, TJones, Marshall, Lilliard, TRoss, Moultrie, Q.Miller, Rivers, Harkness, Waiters, Taylor, and two orders of Lamb..... *licks chops*

Obviously. This would be ideal. The whole question is;

if I were to flip a coin 4 times and you choose tails, are you willing to let it ride (all you own), to get heads 3 outta 4?

I think all the talk is done in this thread. Decisions are made. Moving on for me. I can be happy either way .. it's a gamble regardless.

Really? A team with its 2 best players who have had enormous injury issues? No cap flexibility? No depth whatsoever? When I look at them, I see a team that would need a lot to go right to finish with the 10th worst record in the league.

Yes, because it's a shot at a nice lottery pick, and I've got nothing to lose. Your offer to take #30 and walk away doesn't make me fold (not that #30 doesn't have some value) ....Especially because I know that if I don't win #8 this year, I get #13 next year anyway.

Fair. I 100% respect that. Based on my personal paradigm, I wouldn't, but I cannot fault yours at all. You are one of the best posters, for sure, catchall.

I'm bored... We give up Al, completely give them back their pick. We'll take on Biedrins contract, but we get Curry and the right to swap picks with GS either next year or the year after.

GS gets to keep their pick, get rid of Biedrins contract for a better player that's also expiring, and when we do cash in, they still get a 1st rounder.

We get rid of our black hole, get our star PG and deep threat at the same time, and while when we do cash in we'd have to give up our first rounder, but theirs would essentially be unprotected.

Too tired, with all due respect. This thread has been exhausting.
