Memo released by Portland.

Perhaps the smartest move KOC has made. He gets rid of Memo and doesn't have to take any salary back. Jazz (I think) get under the tax threshhold as a result. So the real vlaue of the trade is $20M+. KOC also gets a trade exemption which he'll likely use if we don't get a 1st round pick. Not having a lottery slot to pay would free up enough cash to get a solid veteran from a team looking to cut expenses/rebuild.

if he is free in offseason, i would go for a small deal, like throw a few pennies in a year, and keep memo on the bench

I like Memo as much as the next guy, but the NBA is a business, and bringing Memo is not good for business. If we do get rid of Al we can find many other replacements better then Memo.

Oh I doubt anyone would expect Memo to play much, if at all.

He'll always be one of my favorite Jazz players, if nothing else just for his threes in game 7 against Houston

which made TMac cry....................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That allstar year he had when he was so clutch, was such a fun year to watch the Jazz.

The smartest move he ever made was trying to fix one of the biggest mistakes he ever made. That extension was idiotic (though I still think that had more to do with Gail than KOC). That extension cost the Jazz Wes Matthews, any real opportunity to improve, got us Raja Bell as a consolation, and cost about $20 million in the one year it was on the Jazz's books but never had to be.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Memo's done. Good player, better guy, but his back appears to be toast.

i want memo to get well first,,than his first option should be utah,,sign a small contract so he can retire there.if that doesnt happen,he should not sign with any other team in nba,,we want him back home

I damn near wouldn't mind seeing his number get retired just for that performance.
