Mormon LeBron (Jabari Parker of Simeon HS)

Whoever it was that mentioned the West Coast Conference (too lazy to go back and look it up right now) maybe an excellent point. At this point in time for him, he's got to look at competition. If he's that good (and by all accounts, he's that good) he needs to go up against the best there is. That's not the WCC. Playing in high school gyms in front of 6,000 people just doesn't compare to playing in Duke vs UNC (or something similar).

Honestly, the only reason I could see him choosing BYU is if the coaches can convince him that playing at BYU is serving a mission, like they did with Ainge. That way he doesn't have to put his b-ball career on hold to serve a real mission.

Any dirty Ute fans here? I was barely conscious when you guys were good with Keith Van Horn and Andre Miller. Those days are long gone. How does it feel that BYU is the only hoops program in the state now?

I would argue that in the long run it hurt Jimmer. He got a ton of national exposure, but how long will he last in the NBA? At a top program he wouldn't have scored as much, but he would have developed into a better player with better coaches IMO.

Dave Rose is absolutely positively one of the best coaches in the country. Playing at BYU got Jimmer into the NBA, at another big school he probably would have been very good but I doubt he would have been scoring 30 ppg and dominating the ball the whole game. Playing for Rose at BYU was absolutely the best thing for him. He may not be a star in the NBA but he got there and he will make millions.

Um, BYU lost to USU last year and USU was nothing to write home about.
