II dont watch enough of Derrick Jones Jr to say for sure, but I like the idea of adding him.
And he is young still. Watched him the other day and his shot looked solid... then I saw his %s. He might be the next Jerami Grant?

Tony Bradley only makes Tony Bradley money cuz he got drafted. He may very well not be in the NBA after his contract is up. The market is completely dried up in general, I can only imagine it will be even drier for true centers.
I know... was using it as a reference. I was critical of management picking up his option and my main argument was "who will pay TB more than 3.5M next year?"

He has solid numbers so I wonder if we could dump him to a team like Detroit for nothing and they would value his restricted rights.

I think he's a much better man defender than Grant. I dont know if he will ever shoot it well, but he's long/athletic/defense.

He seems bigger than his listed height. I'd have guessed 6'8"... listed at 6'6"

I think there is some reason for hope on his shot. Shoots it okay from the line and the shot form seems fine... like there isn't something that looks super busted about it. If he could get it to 35%ish then he's really interesting.

Have heard Tony Jones and Locke kick his name around a bit... he's certainly someone DL and crew should consider. Miami wants to keep space open so any multiyear deal likely gets him if its over $6M annually.

His shot is kind of broken. It's not completely broken, but it's not pretty. He shot 29% on wide open 3's. Maybe it gets better one day, but I wouldn't bank on it. I just want a guy who can play D. Not sure what he would cost.

this will be an unpopular target here but a guy who's defensive splits are intriguing to me are Kyle Anderson. He ain't pretty but if Memphis wanted a salary dump and would take Ed and TB back for him I think he's kinda interesting. He's long, plays good defense, and he can pass. The rest of his game is tough to watch. He has shot well from the corner 3 in previous seasons so maybe he can get some of that magic back.

Another target would be Aminu with the Ed/TB expiring. With Isaac out they likely need Aminu so may not be willing to dump him. He had knee issues... not sure what his health will be like.

I think Memphis likes screwing us

They owe us a good deal now... right? Maybe we just shouldn't do business with them for a couple years.

I'm mixed on the Favs thing... if Quin continues to run one main defensive scheme then having a backup like Favs is important. I think it'd be better to allocate resource elsewhere and try some different stuff on the second unit. I think Morgan and Brantley could be good in switching schemes.

I'm almost sure we do the safe, familiar thing and get Favs. I'm okay with it if we work a sign and trade and throw Ed, TB, and a second back to NO. If we lose JC and use the MLE on Favs that's like $50M in cap dedicated to Centers.
Centers that can’t make a play or shoot threes. I also kinda hate how inflexible and reliant on a rim-protector we are on defense. I think it gives rope for the perimeter defense to perpetually slip and develop bad habits. Makes us susceptible to adjustments in the playoffs and we just lost a 3-1 lead because of it.

I would rather see what we have with our diamonds in the rough and run a switch scheme when Rudy’s not on the floor.

The bolded portion is a big problem imo.

I also think the rules and skill level of the league are trending against players like Rudy. I wouldn't be actively shopping him if I was DL (unless the extension talks go poorly), but I also wouldn't hang up the phone if other teams were calling on him.

Don’t think he’d be a good fit here. He works well within all the gravity created by Robinson, Herro, and Adebayo. Our gravity profile is just different.

He’s a very wiry 6’ 6”. He won’t help us guard the powerwings
