MSNBC suspends Keith Olbermann

MSNBC's Keith Olbermann, whose passionate support of liberal views and gleeful denigration of conservative leaders and pundits made him one of TV's most popular and most reviled commentators, was suspended indefinitely Friday when his employer found out he'd been putting his money where his mouth is.

MSNBC said it suspended Olbermann without pay for contributing to the campaigns of three Democratic candidates this election season. Olbermann acknowledged to NBC that he donated $2,400 apiece to the campaigns of Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway and Arizona Reps. Raul Grivalva and Gabrielle Giffords.

Good old fair and balanced MSNBC.

Is it illegal for a news person to make campaign contributions? When did that law come out? Jeez, can you do anything in this country anymore?

I seriously don't see anything wrong with this. Hannity, Beck, and Rush can contribute to big oil I mean the GOP. While Oberman, Odonnell, and Maher contribute to environmental weenies.

It aint illegal, but these news outlets don't want their reporters to "appear" biased. Go figure, eh? If that's what they really wanted, they woulda fired this guy at the git-go.

Exactly like Hopper said. According to the violation, NBC employees can donate to certain campaigns just as long as they first get the okay for the executives. Olbermann decided to do it without asking and now is suspended. It also makes MSNBC look bad because they made him the main anchor on election night and he was supposed to act as unbiased as possible. Which he couldn't. Must not have gone down well with the brass,

This proves nothing other than Olbermann is a malcontent whom, over the years, has constantly been at odds with his employers.

He's probably looking to get out of his contract.

I am sure they want him to get out of hiss contract. Remember when the rumors were flying that Countdown was on the verge of being canceled? Olbermann called the rumors ridiculous and said that he made huge amounts of money that NBC wouldn't want to pay him for not working. The worst thing for Olbermann would for him to try to get out of his contract. Maybe that is why the NBC brass suspended finally. In hopes he would try. Remember in the 2008 elections he was taken off their political reporting run up to the election specials because he couldn't put his personal bias to the side. Matthews as well.

There is no such thing as unbiased news reporting on MSNBC, FOX or CNN. They all offer competing versions of the news.

Why can't both stations just call it like it is? They aren't fooling many people MSNBC has a huge liberal bias, and Fox is conservative. The whole "fair and balanced" thing is what pisses everyone off. Both should be allowed to slant the news towards their bias, but why on earth can't they just admit it?
