Too much. We also do group soccer trainings on the side for all three of them…haha.
Listen, I’d rather this than staring at a tv or iPad all day.
But we’ll see. In two or three years, he’ll probably have to start to choose sports though I will try to avoid that and let him continue playing multiple every season. His coaches love him and because he’s really good in everything they want him on the teams…basketball is the only one where he’s regressed…I think that will change once I put a hoop up.
But in soccer he’s young since it’s by calendar year and he’s a December kid. And yet he’s probably the second best kid on the team and we’re very good. He also played up a year in the winter and was good.
He wrestled what I would call JV last year…meaning he was the 2nd best kid in our town at his weight class…the best kid is in 4th grade and was held back and should’ve been in 5th. He went 11-6. Solid but nothing special…but wrestling, like soccer, is so much technique and skill that takes years to master…so he’ll do a couple camps this summer…start the training at the school as well for 3-4 months leading into the winter season…so I’m curious how he does next year…
In lax, he was asked to play up with a few other kids this season. He did nicely. I think finished with four goals playing against 3rd and 4th graders many of whom were way bigger than him since he’s just 56 pounds. He crushed it when he played for his normal aged team.
In baseball, he’s learning and getting more comfortable. He struggled in his first three travel games going 0-6 with six strikeouts. Near tears. I told him it was good. That everything has come fairly easy to him and the struggle and suffering and working hard are needed steps…reached base his five plate appearance since. But it’s a work in progress. Getting the timing down with faster pitchers. And in the field what to do in certain situations. He’s started to watch it a lot more on tv which will help…but I think in a year or so, he’ll likely be very good.
I might buy a football helmet and pads and have him do some games in them with me this summer…just to get him used to wearing all the gear…a football helmet is noticeably heavier than a lax one imo.
And yeah, he joined our beach clubs swim team this summer lol. All three kids did.
