There was so much time between seasons I lost all interest and Season 4 was already mid to me so I was fine just reading the cliff notes of what happened and never turning it on again.A lot off what made it fun for me was warn off but I'm one of those people who can't stop watching a series I've invested a lot of time in.
The "kids" are grown up but are still playing characters that are kids. It's kind of off putting for me. The story is tired IMHO, I'm just here to see it finally end but I feel like this is one season too many. They should have wrapped it up last season.
That's my take.
Talked about it in another thread but I just finished watching The Vietnam War. It was amazing. Brutal, enlightening, entertaining, horrific, interesting, eye opening, educational, sorrowful, disgusting, funny (though rarely)........... So much info from so many perspectives.
But the last hour or so was my favorite part and it was simply beautiful. Vets going to the war memorial and finding some semblance of healing/closure. Learning to deal with their PTSD. Everyone learning how to forgive each other. Both countries recognizing the mistakes they made and trying to rebuild and move forward while never forgetting the lessons to be learned. American combat vets going back to vietnam years later and meeting and getting to know North vietnam/vietcong combat vets.
Best ending ever. Got my tears to come out.
Sadly my father never got the war behind him like some did (many were like my father and never left vietnam behind im sure). After watching this program I really wish I could talk to him about the war but there is just no way I can go there with him. Too much trauma and pain remains. Breaks my heart.

I started it today (only like 10 minutes in) and im curious to see if I still find him to be a villain or not after I watch it. He came off as a villain in that documentary I just finished. (though he wasn't featured all that much)i saw it a thousand years ago while i was still at Uni, what struck me about it was McNamara's candour, he's no apologising for anything, he's just discussing and analyzing it. Its fantastic.

Ya he is definitely a genius and even at 85 is still very sharp and well spoken. He also has the perspective that comes with age that softens him up to the viewer a bit. He's also like 87 years old when they make the doco, that was the other thing, how sharp he was in his old age.

Was a good movie. In the end, he is still a villain in my eyes.
He was brilliant and fascinating. But he lacked remorse. Was unapologetic. Deflecting of blame and responsibility. He had a line where he said something like "never answer the question you are asked, answer as if you were asked the question that you wanted to be asked" or something to that effect.
He is a douchebag despite his amazing intellect (or maybe due to it). All bravado and bluster and arrogance but at the same time unwilling to accept responsibility.
Reminded me a bit of trump, just much much smarter and well spoken and not quite as blunt or abrasive (though he was those things as well).
Edit: I probably was a little to hard on him with the trump comment. There were multiple times where he was overcome with emotion and got choked up and had a hard time speaking. When talking about soldiers deaths and trials his family went through and when he received the medal of freedom from lyndon johnson. Im 100% positive trump has never been in that state. When his kids were born, if his kids died,...... There is no situation that could ever happen when trump would get choked up due to being overcome with emotion and have trouble speaking. Dude is a complete sociopath. Mcnamara is a lot of bad things but he at least had a heart in there somewhere. trump has no heart.
