New Idea - Sign Iguodala in Free Agency

I like the effort but Iggy is a terrible fit here. Watch him play--his body is breaking down. He can barely be a role player for 20 minutes a night now. In a few years he will need a walker. And GSW is going to pay him because Durant wants to keep the team together.

He just doesn't make any sense for this Jazz team.

Do you realize he played all 12 minutes of the 4th quarter of Game 3? Without his defensive flexibility, the Warriors lose Game 3. If you have Zaza out there, all it takes is a two man game out top to create a switch of somebody like LBJ or Kyrie on Zaza.

We might not be the team to do it, but somebody needs to take away Iggy from GS. They aren't losing Curry, KD, Draymond or Klay. Iggy is their next most valuable piece.

Since when does having a lot of money make people start caring less about money??

So you think Jazz offering him few millions more would be enough to leave SF for SLC? Like this idea is so crazy that I am surprised you guys are even looking into it.

He can probably make more money in Silicon Valley investing in the tech industry and rubbing shoulders with VC's as a member of the Warriors.

We cannot offer Iggy more than MLE, because we are over the cap.

Would you be willing to do a sign and trade for Iggy?

If Warriors know they are going to lose him and if he wants to come to Utah do something like:

UTA gets Iggy S&T(lets say at 2+1/36M) + future first
GSW gets Derrick Favors

?

Things would have to happen, but he's worth considering if the right things happen.

Hypothetically, we could trade Favors away for little in return in terms of contracts.
Hypothetically, we could dump Burks using our many draft picks.
Hypothetically, we could pass on Hill and Ingles or they go elsewhere.
So Hypothetically after some free agent dust clears, we could have plenty of cap space to sign him.

The questions are simple -

Would he make us better - without a doubt
Would losing him hurt GS - without a doubt
Would we have better title chances with Iggy than without Iggy - without a doubt

It's all very, very improbable, but worth a couple minutes discussion.

Not necessarily. I just really objected to your statement that because he had a lot of money he "could care less" about money.

Ok, maybe it sounded wrong. My point is when you made 100+ mil in your life few million a year at the end of your career really does not make a decisive difference. It comes to chance
of championships, role on the team, city and your family priorities. Jazz have nothing to offer compared to GSW. Durant already said he will take less money to keep the core together.
If any other team have reasonable chance to sway Iggy from GSW is Spurs.

Even if Ingles or Hayward leaves, we already have Joe Johnson and four draft picks. I would rather draft a 3 & D guy than pay too much for AI and not have enough money to sign someone who can further help our team (such as a PG).
