NFL Thread 12-13

I really want to bet on the Texans winning it all this year...I think they are huge underdogs, they had a third string QB lead them to a playoff win while their best defensive player was out all year (although he is gone now).

Yeah, they really should have won that second round playoff game in Baltimore. Had they done that, I thought they matched up very well with the Pats.

Thought some of you might like this, break down of the trend of the "packaged" offenses run by Ok St last year and also GB in the NFL.

The Total Package
How modern offenses are rethinking the most fundamental elements of football "plays"
By Chris Brown on August 21, 2012

During the first quarter of last season's Week 16 game against the Chicago Bears, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers faced a second down with seven yards to go. The Packers were lined up in the shotgun, with two receivers and a tight end to the left, and a single receiver to Rodgers's right. Rodgers took the snap and immediately looked to his left and set his feet to throw that way. After staring down the oncoming Bears defenders, he quickly turned back to his right and floated a screen pass to running back Ryan Grant. Following an envoy of blockers, Grant burst up the field before finally being tackled after a 32-yard gain. A few plays later, Rodgers threw a short touchdown pass to Jermichael Finley, and Green Bay's 35-21 victory was in the works.

Initially, the play appeared to be nothing more than a simple screen pass. Look a bit further, though, and it's much more. That little toss to Ryan Grant was nothing less than a portent of the complete upheaval in thinking about modern play calling, and to understand why, we will start with a video game.

I said 10. Almost every prognosticator says 4 or less, so if you want to go off that then our odds should be about 5/1? I'm no expert at odds.

PS didn't your avatar blow up Ketchup Field?

I looked it up the o/u on the Browns is at 5 right now.

Well, since there are no odds because we're wagering sigs and not money, than it's 1:1 so to speak. And even if we contemplated tailoring the bet somehow based on your stated 5:1 odds, why should I buy in? You were the one pumping your chest out about them this year. But I'll play along because they have no freakin' shot at 10 wins. Anyway, let's set the over/under at 9.5. If they go over, I will put any sig you want here for five months. If they go under 9.5 wins (which is a lock by the way), you will post any sig I want for one month.

Deal?
