No Extension for Walker Kessler?

It's interesting to me that Tony put this in:

He's so careful in talking about the Jazz this way. But seemingly everywhere else on Twitter he's advocating for teams that have a chance to tank to go all out to tank. But here he's going with the AA mantra in implying that the Jazz can be satisfied with whatever comes their way in wins and losses as long as the process goes well.
And I disagree. If we finish with like 30 wins and give the #9 pick to OKC then I will be very pissed.
We need to tank hard again this year. Unless we are a playoff team (lol)

I know we all love leverage talk... but... we have a good amount of leverage right now. If everything stays the same and Kessler gets to FA then the leverage tilts. He will have suitors. This isn't Kuminga and the cap environment could produce some pretty silly contracts next year. If he has a glow up... not only does that hurt the tank this season but that's when he could get all the way up to something ludicrous. You are setting yourself up for the best of both worlds.
Good point about him having a glow up. If he isn't extended then I feel I have to root for him NOT to have a glow up. Which sucks. If he is extended and has a glow up then even though it hurts the tank there is a silver lining that I can at least feel like we have a really good player on a good contract going forward.

Who else does miami have? Would that team with lebron have a chance?

They have most of their future picks I believe. They have some young guys as well.

The way I see it, LeBron’s chances in the east with Miami are better than the chances in the west with LAL. LAL is clearly not bowing down to LeBron’s wishes anymore and that has already caused a lot of tension this off season.

There is already talk about LAL just letting LeBron expire. So if they aren’t putting everything in to win next year and are instead focused on Luka, why not cash in on LeBron? And if you’re MIA….is there a better shot than next year when Tatum and Haliburton are out? The east is wide open and with LeBron they’re in serious contention imo.

Bam straight across-ish? LA still needs a real center and Bron wouldn’t really fit that great with Bam, IMO. Then Miami could maybe use picks for… actually I don’t care.

They have two firsts they could move. The Terry Rozier pick means they can't trade 26/27/28. Conditionally could do 2029 but for sure could do 2030 and 2032.

Pat really whiffed so hard on that one lol.

Kessler just led us to a 17 win season. Perhaps there are some in management that might think he is not the answer moving forward.
Benching Kessler in crunch time probably cost us 5 or 6 wins at the very least. Limiting Kessler's minutes over all was generally our best tank strategy.
