What's new

Non jazz 2019 playoff discussion.

Watching Leonard play I cringe every time thinking about that day when he was available on the draft board and we drafted ****ing Burks. Biggest draft blunder by O'Connor, nothing else comes even close.
Watching Giannis play I cringe every time thinking about that day when he was available on the draft board and we drafted ****ing Burke. Biggest draft blunder by Lindsey, nothing else comes even close.

Let's also not forget Portland drafted a pretty damn good guard one pick after Dennis' folly that season. Hell, even drafting MCW would have been better. He at least won ROY and netted some good trade capital for Philly.

Or maybe his biggest mistake was drafting Exum. Having Dante guard water bottles has forced Dennis to double down on his mistakes by trading first round picks for Hill and Rubio.

Or maybe it was taking Lyles one pick ahead of Booker.

How about not securing a gentlemen's agreement to sign an extension from Hill? Jazz probably could have had Hill for a lesser pick. Atlanta was desperate to get that trade done. Meanwhile, Taureen Prince has turned into a pretty good 3-pt shooter (39%) the last two seasons. And then Dennis had to burn another 1st round pick to get a PG with bigger warts than a Halloween hag.

I sincerely hope Starks has given Zanik more power than what we've heard. Maybe kicking Lindsey upstairs was a tactful means of "rewarding" Dennis for his failures.

No one excepted Giannis to be as good as he is, drafting Burke over McCollum is probably a more egregious error than Burke over Giannis.

McCollum’s another example of how important ball-handling is. That and his smooth shot.

Anyone in the draft like him who has a great handle and smooth *** shot but isn’t top 5 projected?

lol, are you kidding me? No coach would have ruined Kawhi. And I seriously doubt Burks would be any better under Pop.

I hope you slept on this seriously bad take and woke up with a better attitude. Coaches matter. Popovich vs Corbin does matter to a rookies mentality. A lot. Add in Duncan and the Spurs culture to a young AB, and it does make a difference. Im not saying AB would be Kawhi and Kawhi would be AB if their teams were swapped, but neither would be quite the player today if they were.

Did Burks improved after Corbin left? Did Kawhi got worse after going to Raptors? You can't teach or alter basketball IQ and mental make up. Coaches may help a bit by putting players in right system to succeed but at the end it is up to the player to either become great or just stay mediocre. Burks would never be great on Spurs, heck Pop would never tolerate boneheaded decisions he was making.

Anyway, have the Warriors won it yet? I'm going to be sad if the Raptors advance, they will get steam-rolled.
They would have home court advantage. And for what it is worth they steam-rolled GSW in Oakland by 20+ pts without Kawhi. And they won at home as well. I doubt it would be as one sided as you think... Raptors defense is by far the best in all playoffs. That series would go 6 at least and I would not be surprised if Raptors would pull an upset.

There's a fine line between being a good player like that, and a player you don't want.

Like Rodney Hood vs McCollum.

But if there was anyone like McCollum in this draft it would be Kevin Porter.

Hood can shoot but he doesn’t have anywhere near the ballhandling ability of McCollum.

Is that Porter? Great ball handler (and therefore penetrator) and shooter?
