So I don't remember seeing this done in the past, but this is what I'm proposing:

-call your final shot for this draft for use in **** talk in the future

-only one post per person so we don't have to wade through endless pages to research your next sig mocking someone's horrible talent evaluation skills

-name as many players as you want (i.e. Top 5, 10, first round....whatever) but do it based on who you think will be the better player years 1-4 then years 4 on

-Mods will lock the thread an hour before the draft(?)

Basically instead of wading through the 87 threads with draft topics, we can go to the definitive thread on the matter.

Cool? Kewl?

We sit tight and take Gordon at #5.

We take PJ Hairston at#23. Our #35 gets packaged for a first rounder next year.

I make some pizza bites and flip between JF and pornography following the draft.

A healthy Embiid is the best player in this draft. It would be evident by the end of year 3, and in that year, fully healthy, he will be a Top 10 player in the NBA. I know this because I have watched exactly 3 youtube videos. Science. When I'm wrong, I will happily admit it.

I have no idea about anyone else. But no one else's video convinced me they would be special like Embiid.

huhhh I like these guys... (potentially could be drafted by us...)

Aaron Gordon
Jordan Clarkson
CJ Wilcox
Bogdan Bogdanovic
KJ McDaniels

So I guess I think these guys will be good..

Oh, I also think Stauskas will be no worse than 15th in a 'redraft' 5 years later, and perhaps 5th. To my mind, he's the safest pick in the entire draft. He's a ridiculously good shooter by the numbers, and I would not be upset if we traded back to get him.

DL has shown a willingness to be aggressive when he has the assets to do so, so I don't think we'll be picking at 5. However, I don't know if that means we'll be picking at 1,2,3,4,6,7,8,9 or 10.

So for now, I'll be boring and say the most likely place we pick is at #5. If so, I think Aaron Gordon is our guy.

At 23, I think we draft and stash - either Capela or Bogdanovic. Clarkson or Adams also make sense.

I'll go ....

Years 1-4:

1) Jabari (he'll score, simple as that. I love defense and complete players but you have to put the ball in the basket)
2) Embiid (I'm taking a flyer and saying he will recover fully and be getting into a rhythm by year 3....)
3) Gordon (I think he's very mature for a very young kid. He'll make an impact early in a lot of ways)
4) Smart (Leader, defense, fire)
5) Wiggins (lots of "oh ****" moments followed by a lot of forgetting about him. Just my opinion. His personality doesn't match his skill-set and athleticism)
6) McD (I happen to really like him and think he'll be a lot like a middle class man's Jabari)
7) Payton (His size and athleticism will make him effective early, IMO)
8) Exum (I think he'll be a lot like Wiggins with "oh ****" moments but has a rude awakening coming early going against grown men)
9) Stauskas (the league needs "makers")
10) Vonleh (I see him as almost Jermaine O'neal esque in that he'll start very slow...)

Years 5 on:

-Embiid
-Jabari
-Vonleh
-Wiggins (starts putting it together around his second contract)
-Gordon

Random dudes I think will be good to very good from this draft:

-Bogdanovic
-Payne
-Anderson
-McDaniels

Here's how the top 6 picks WILL go:

1) Wiggins, because he's the best pick for the Cavs or whatever team they trade with
2) Parker, because he's safest pick for a new administration
3) Exum, because he's big-time talent
4) Smart, because Embiid is too risky
5) This is going to be interesting and I can't predict it, but Randle, Vonleh and Gordon are all incredibly close. If it were me, I'd take Randle because he's the best asset, or I'd take a swing on Embiid.

Predictions:

* Julius Randle is going to be very very good. He's a bigger, better, quicker Millsap. He's not TRob or Derrick Williams. He's confident, cocky and he's going to be a load to defend due to his quickness out on the floor and his tenacity in the paint. People are going to laugh at us when we pass on him and Smart. Don't worry though, Boston will snatch him up. I wouldn't be shocked if he went 4 to Orlando.

* Exum is going to be good, but probably not great. Rich man's Brandon Knight, but not vertically explosive enough or a strong enough finisher at the rim to quite take over games.

* Vonleh is a rotation player, but not much more. The "big upside" we're seeing is because we want to see it. We're looking for it. He's at risk of being a PJIII or Patrick O'Bryant---a big guy who doesn't really want to play big.

* Wiggins is the real deal. He's not as competitive and mentally tough as Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant, but he's going to remind people of Dominique Wilkins. Franchise player. Perennial All Star.

* Jabari Parker is good enough to be part of a Big Three, but I don't think he's the alpha. I don't think he's quite quick enough. He's the Paul Pierce who needs to play off of Kevin Garnett.

* Doug McDermott will be a good player and will be effective in the league. Why? Because he works hard and he can play. He's the kind of guy that the Spurs win championships with. I'm sure DL is looking at him closely. I think he would trade Trey and 23 for McDermott if he could.

5 years from now (order is according to DX latest mock)...

Wiggins- All Star. Stardom about, or just below, the level of Paul George currently. Or he could be a total bust. I go back and forth tbh.

Jabari- All Star, but sort of an empty stats guy you cant win with.

Embiid- decimated by injuries. Hardly ever healthy enough to play. Still in the league because of his largeness and people hoping he can get healthy.

Exum- Borderline All Star.

Vonleh- Decent big. Starter on a bad team, first big off the bench on a good team.

Marcus Smart Seviceable starting PG.

Julius Randle- BUST. He's Mareese Speights.

Elfrid Payton- Eww gross. Whyyyyy. BUST. LOL @ him being mocked this high.

McDermott- Decent role player.

Aaron Gordon- Legit Defensive force and general "run around and be athletic and annoy everyone on the other team" guy. Maybe not an all star, but I guy any coach would love to have. Probly the safest pick in the draft, will be a top 3 dude from this draft for sure.

Nik Stauskas- Guy that (along with Gordon) everyone will wonder why he didnt go higher. Klay Thompson'ish. Top 5 guy in the draft.

That's a pretty strong post.

I can really can imagine anyone of Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, Exum, Vonleh, Gordon, and Smart being the best player in this draft. There are going to be some GREAT players in this draft, and some are just going to bust. Period.

But: I'm not gonna jinx it, I'm going to protect myself from being hurt, I'm going to go conservative: Aaron Gordon at #5. There are a lot of scenarios where things could swing, I just think this is most likely (given that I think the First Four are going to be Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, and Exum, just like most of this year). I seriously am not getting a strong feeling about anything, this is just the strongest, I guess.

This post is EXTREMELY strong.

Vonleh at 5 and although I won't be surprised if Adams is really the pick at 23 I would definitely prefer James Young. McDaniels at 35 would be sweet.

Top 5 best careers (in no particular order):

-Parker
-Wiggins
-Vonleh
-Smart
-Harris

Parker will end the night with pizza sauce stains, nacho cheese stains, or both on what was a very expensive suit......

He actually was asked what he would eat after being drafted. His answer? A deep dish pizza. Haha.

Parker will make millions and millions of dollars and be able to afford all the liposuction he could ever want. Fat, white trash dudes who make $30k a year will call him fat his whole career to feel better about themselves.

Best players from the draft in five years will be in this order:

Jabari
Exum
Wiggins
Gordon
Vonleh
Randle

Comps for players are like this in five years:

Jabari- Paul pierces power forward cousin
Exum- Russell Westbrook but not so pissed off all the time
Wiggins- Paul George
Gordon- Marion but not pouty
Vonleh- I have no idea. But not Chris bosh.
Randle- slightly better than Paul millsap.

I think the Jazz end up getting Gordon with the 5th, after trying to move into the top 2 for either Wiggins or Parker (but the asking price is too much for Lindsey). I think Gordon will be a 17 point, 7 board, 4 assist, 2 steal, 1.5 block sort of guy who plays elite defense and will be worth the pick in the prime of his career.

I don't think any of the top 8 will totally bust, but I think Vonleh will end up being a Marvin Williams esque player. Slightly above average but nothing great. If the Jazz pick him I really hope I'm wrong, and he definitely has the skill set to make that prediction bad.

I think Embid's injury will derail his career, unfortunately.

Whoever takes a flyer at Dinwiddie from my beloved Buffs will be pleasantly surprised. I hope it's the Jazz with their 2nd round pick.

And I won't be around to lock this thread. Hopefully another mod can do it. I'll be on radio silence after 5 pm tomorrow until I get home from work. I like watching things as they unfold.
