What's new

Our “load management” strategy has been horrible

I am guessing that we weren’t sure how competitive we would end up being in today’s game and then it ended up being very close so we went for it.

I also think since it was on ESPN they might not have been real happy with is sitting Joe and JC on top of all the other guys being out.

The middle of the road approach is a little curious but when Rudy’s crystal speaks we have to listen I guess.

Tonight was the second night of a back to back. This is definitely the game to rest players if you’re going to rest anyone. I like the choice, though did worry about those minutes for Ingles and I think it showed.

it was an entertaining game despite all of the all stars being out.

seeding doesn't matter at all tbh.....

anything can happen in these western conference playoffs. I wouldn't even be surprised if the jazz manage to get bounced in the 1st round. staying healthy is huge.

How does it help resting all those guys when Ingles, Bojan, and JC all push 40 or more? By the time everyone else comes back, we'll need to load manage Bojan, JC, and Ingles, and play Donovan, Rudy, and Mike heavily to do so.
Well hell Quin obviously should’ve realized before hand the game would go into overtime, WTF was he thinking??!!

Oh, sorry... let me adjust for that:

JC 41 mins and 35 minutes for Ingles, Bojan and Royce.

Yes, wonderful.

There is a good chance that ending up as 2nd or 3rd seed may be just as good as the number 1 seed. Just play the game and respond as players need it.

What constitutes a “real-time response to a player’s needs”? There have been a lot of attempts to improve the gathering of evidence in shorter and more responsive increments, but it remains very difficult to do. And there’s already a lot we know about the risk of injury on b2bs and when you run into 40+ minutes.

It isn’t a stretch to say that yesterday wasn’t the greatest management. I agree with HH... they found the game was within reach and decided the risks of wringing more out of the players was worth it.

I won’t say that they were wrong..... but I will say I wish it were otherwise. I see Oni and Hughes’s playing time and roll my eyes.

The Spurs rested DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl and Patty Mills in their 111-85 win over the Suns on Saturday night.

I have always been a fan of the thought that their team is expected to win while resting key players.

Yep, there is no possible way Joe Ingles will recover from the extra 8 minutes he had to play in ONE damn game. Heavy minutes is a problem when it happens consistently. The Jazz have actually done a masterful job of not playing their stars long minute all season and using their depth. Ingles, Royce, and Bojan recently had some time off. They weren't going to break in 6 extra minutes of play time.

It was both the right call to rest a bunch f players AND try to win the game. Stop being such ninnies!

What in the everloving holy **** is a 25k fine supposed to do to keep anyone in line in a league like the NBA? That's literally asking them to pay a $0.25 fine compared to revenue and profit. It's just another way the league pays lip service to maintaining levels of competition.

If those minutes are ultimately meaningless, then why are we resting people?
