Potential Promise to DJ Wilson?

FWIW, I think all this DJ wilson talk is just talk

Hmm interesting. IF true I would be okay with that selection. His lack of minutes and production in his first two seasons is a little concerning but it's not something I would avoid drafting a player over. Some players develop later than others. The rebounding doesn't worry me much. Beilein's teams almost always struggle on the boards and bigs in his system rarely average more than 5 or 6 per game. I think it's a system thing. Wilson is 6'10, 7'3 wingspan, good athlete, defensive versatility that fits the Jazz style of play, good looking 3 point jumper... At pick 24 I'd be okay. At pick 30 I'd be much happier.

2.3 free throw attempts per40 is just awful. Very little in the way of ball handling or playmaking skills. Most of his garbage points will not be there in the NBA, so if you take that aspect of his production away, I'm not sure with what you're left with. I would be more comfortable picking him at 42.

He definitely wont last til 42

I don't know much more about him than what I've seen in this video but he looks pretty good for me.

Seems like he hunts the bball, good screener and has good court awareness and positioning.

Love his >80% from the stripe, he's not falling from the 1st round.

he looks like he has that "inner fire", which i've really come to appreciate after watching Rudy and Draymond blossom. Looks to be a hard worker, has some motor skill for a big guy, and what Jazz fan can't appreciate a big man that sprints the floor on transition?

Kyle Goon @kylegoon

Jazz VP of personnel Walt Perrin was asked about the reported first-round guarantee for D.J. Wilson.

"Did not happen. Did not happen."

Kyle Goon @kylegoon

Perrin was asked how many times the Jazz have guaranteed to draft a player in his 16 years.

"Never."

Pretty sure the C.J. Miles guarantee was well documented at the time, since at least three of us here remembered and specifically mentioned it. But maybe Perrin forgot about it. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the only one, though.

Waste of a pick.

A soft and inconsistent player with nice offensive skills but zero motivation to play defense? We already have Trey Lyles. We don't need another one.

Lol wut? He isnt a great defender, but he definitely tries on defense. He lacks some fundamentals, but he puts in a lot of effort defensively.

He's was a much better defender in college than Lyles has ever been in college or the NBA.

Yeah, he gave himself away with the second answer. Do we really believe that the Jazz have never promised someone?

Watching the video. One thing that "bothers me" is his lateral quickness. He seems a bit slow laterally. Am I crazy?
