Question for Lawyer people and other smart human beings

They do a logo, hire twenty sharpie lawyers and a hundred paralegals who patrol the internet and highways looking for "actionable cases". The file suit, and drum up the case to be a multimillion issue, hoping the turkeys will settle for whatever they actually have.

The only way you won't pay with the shirt off your back, and everything your mother has, is if you can afford forty lawyers, and sue them good enough to make it stick. Or scare them enough they just leave you alone.

Yep, I know several people that FOR A LIVING find actionable cases (stupid, but actionable) against others that have something to lose, but not enough to defend themselves. They'd rather give up what they've got than fight. I want to punch every one of these ******* in the testes.

Well how do people get away with selling shirts like the ones I posted in this thread, Mr babe?

It's quite simple to set up companies in states that do not disclose the owners (have registered agents, only, on file). Prepare your product, prepare for a quick-hit/fast roll-out, and go like hell until the cease and desist order comes, then stop. Take as much cash as possible, clear out bank accounts daily (bank accounts are another tricky matter, as they 'follow the money'), and when the order comes, stop.

Then, if you find an enterprise is worth continuing to operate, you can set up foreign corporations, doing most of the business via the internet .. while still getting the word out on the streets (games, etc).

Cocaine is illegal, but people still deal it .. if you want to beat copyright, you can .. but there's a risk .. just have to be smarter (or smaller) than those pursuing you.

My first wife's mother ran a poker house in Manila for a wealthy clientele. She could read the cards in my hands by looking in my eyeballs, and my facial expressions. I was a good student. And I'm not "rambling".

My present wife is probably just as good at cards. We played canasta with her sister and her kids on the 4th, and those kids were studying my eyeglasses. My nephew assumed the duties of teaching one of my daughters, and exploited his "extra" knowledge to wipe us all out.

I don't go to the poker games Gameface runs because I'm just a babe in the woods at the card table, and my wife won't invest in my adventures. But take the cards out of it, and Franklin has a point.

But Franklin, my scenario is based on some unfortunate experiences in the legal casinos of Vegas, the official courts. I know there are sharpie lawyers out there looking at all the angles. In this case, my opinion is no simple troll frolic.

And while there are perhaps a lot of very small T-shirt knockoff artists around who don't get hauled into court for their deeds, it is also true that there are enough sharpie lawyers around I do consider them a serious danger. Haven't we heard of some kids who downloaded some songs in pirate style who have paid a stiff price for it.

Logos are trademarks. Trademark law is different from copyright law.

Basically what I got out of this is that if I'm going to get involved in illegal t-shirt sales, I should probably wait til my cocaine dealing business is ramped up and just roll them both out at the same time. Also, something about robbing banks I think.
