Raja Bell, the worst player in the league...

Bell has the lowet PER, but also the lowest PER among the people he defends (compared to Burks and Miles). So, perhaps having him out therefor a few minutes, to set a tone defensively, is not a bad thing for our team.

Damn. I can't believe this hasn't been discussed in another Raja Bell is the worst player thread.

Guy: Are you frustrated with your performance?

Bell: No I'm not frustrated! Why would I be?? I don't care. I don't care at all. Do you think I'm just going to go home and take it out on my family? Of course not! I'll just suppress it, because I'm not frustrated it. Whatever man. I'll just play if they want me to, or not. Whatever. I'm completely not frustrated.

That's the summary.

Dang, I wish I had read this before posting instead of the summary.

What I read from this is a player that has given up. Last year the stress of trying to be Kobe without having near the talent caused him to have a nervous breakdown, which he didn't like. Now he is not allowing his basketball life to interfere with his personal life. Unfortunately a great deal of his ability was based on him letting his pride dictate his energy, so now that he has let this go he no longer has the fire that he needs to play well, and he's basically saying 'if you don't like it, I'll go somewhere else'.

This of course doesn't change the fact that he needs to be benched or traded, because if he has no fire - whether it's because he's dissatisfied or disinterested - he shouldn't be on the Jazz's court.

Dude's life is on fire. Sad to watch him burn. Please don't take it out on the family Raja.

Why is losing connection with Raja Bell being painted as such a tragedy? Guarantee scrubs on other teams don't get this sort of hallowed treatment.

Listening to this beat writer on 1280... I am disliking him even more. He is poisoning the minds of the masses with his ridiculous respect for Raja Bell. He seems like the media whirlwind type... likes to make the news rather than report the news

All in all a shooting guard should shoot more than 4 shots per game. Raja could shoot the same 4 shots in 10 minutes of PT coming off the bench. Signing Raja instead of Matthews, Korver, Shannon Brown, or even Brewer last off-season was the start of Utah's implosion last season. An undrafted 36 year-old, who the Lakers wanted to play 10-minutes per game behind Kobe, is never going to be the piece that gets you past the Lakers.

I've said since last year that if he's the player that his reputation and his own promotion says he is, then you just keep him. Reduce his role, maybe have him come off the bench, definitely cut his minutes, maybe even take him out of the rotation altogether. If he's not going to make a stink being put in more of a mentor role than a player role, then he's great to have around for at least (and likely, at most) this year.

However, if he makes any kind of stink (verbal or not), then try to ship him the **** out and hope that you can get SOMETHING for him.
