Ricky Rubio or Mike Conley?

Does this really need to be asked? I like Rubio but the answer is obvious.

IDK... Rubio is shooting as much at the rim as Conley is with similar percentages... the spot 3 point shooting isn't very different. Conley uses more possessions and is less turnover prone... I'm not sure i want someone using more possessions though. Maybe he will be more efficient on less possessions... but like it isn't completely obvious. Mike's likely more consistent, but the price acquisition cost etc... I'd be nervous as hell.

Would Mike be better in our offense than he is now? I can't watch the Grizzlies... its so ugly... someone who has watched him more tell me.

I dont watch the Grizzlies, but just look at his shots, he shoots 41% on wide open shots and 36% on open shots, which is far better than anyone on Utah other than Korver.

I think people have this vision in their head that Utah will get 5 guys who are all the same age and they stay together forever. That can't happen. The only great players you can keep together are Rudy and Donovan. Conley has two years left on his deal after this year. After he expires, Utah can probably have close to max money left to sign another player, or re-sign Conley to a cheaper vet deal.

If you look at this era of the Jazz as the 2nd Contract Rudy/Rookie Contract Donovan era, then the Jazz have 2 years left (after this year) to maximize that era. Conley fits into that timeline without his age being a huge negative factor. I think he can be high level for 2 more years.

this is a solid point... although I'd like to get a guy that is still in his prime or close to it in 3-4 years. I'm just terrified that KD comes back to GS and they own the league for another year... so Conley's two best years (most likely) are in years with a low likelihood of getting all the way to the finals. The final year he could still be good, but may be washed and overpaid.

If we did Conley I just wouldn't want to give up draft capital as we need those players to develop and take over when he is fading... and he could fade hard.. size, age, miles etc. I think they need draft picks in the deal to justify it to fans.

The traditional model of having a team together for 8-10 years is broken... shorter contracts, tighter restrictions on extensions, CBA that wants to allow player movement. I just may not shoot the wad on something that has too much emphasis on the short term.

I would take Conley depending on what we have to give up. You have to trade Rubio in this trade or another if we get Conley. To make salaries work you have to give up Favors or Exum though I think.

I would be hesitant to give up Exum or too many assets for him. Trading Rubio and other players like Sef would be an easy yes for me.

Come on guys! Conley has averaged 15 points a game and 6 assists per game his entire career. Rubio has averaged 11 points and almost 8 assists per game for his career! Conley makes 28 million a year and Rubio makes 13 million a year! We are not paying 15 million more dollars a year for four more points a game! Just NOT going to happen!

Besides that, Rubio fits into our system like a glove! He doesn't force shots, looks for the open man and loves dishing out assists to our big guys under the basket! Conley would probably just mess up our chemistry and foul up the works!
