What's new

Ricky Rubio or Mike Conley?

Not now...next year, maybe.

If Cousins leaves and/or some othe Dub leaves or gets hurt, and we’re super smart about Conley next year and watch his minutes (I think <29 minutes per), then maybe, so long as Exum isn’t involved but I think he has to be. I’d also wonder who we’d be starting at the 4. And who would back up Gobert at the 5.

I think Favors position flexibility in that sense, his two-way play, egoless manner, and penchant for the big game are very valuable and a bit unappreciated.

Conley-???
Mitchell-Allen
Ingles-O’Neale
???-Crowder
Gobert-???

I don’t know. That’s a lot of value to replace imo and doing at the price of about 33M the next two years at his age scares me because we’d still have some relatively large gaps to fill.

I would take Conley depending on what we have to give up. You have to trade Rubio in this trade or another if we get Conley. To make salaries work you have to give up Favors or Exum though I think.

I would be hesitant to give up Exum or too many assets for him. Trading Rubio and other players like Sef would be an easy yes for me.

Yeah I think we have to give up Exum too.

Faves and Exum for Conley straight up. Not sure I’d want to do that.

Probably not.

Besides that, Rubio fits into our system like a glove! He doesn't force shots, looks for the open man and loves dishing out assists to our big guys under the basket! Conley would probably just mess up our chemistry and foul up the works!

That glove fits very oddly. Must be for a different hand. Rubio doesnt fit our system that well. He doesnt like to throw lobs to bigs, its an awkward pass for him. Plus he isnt a good shooter and isnt a good defender. He does some good things in our system and when he is shooting well it hides other problems.

Come on guys! Conley has averaged 15 points a game and 6 assists per game his entire career. Rubio has averaged 11 points and almost 8 assists per game for his career! Conley makes 28 million a year and Rubio makes 13 million a year! We are not paying 15 million more dollars a year for four more points a game! Just NOT going to happen!
This. Also he has 3 more years after this one on his contract. Way too long for someone who should be on the decline as the years move on

I don't know the Jazz would have what MEM would want as far as future assets, Favors helps them win too much right now and the only reason Rubio makes sense is because him and Gasol are buds but they aren't looking to keep Gasol.

So young players Exum and Allen (but would MEM value them enough and would the Jazz give them up) are likely more what MEM is looking for and draft picks.

I hate to say it but LAL make more sense with LBJ's win now time table and their under performing rookie contract players. What is being talked about for getting AD is what it might take to get both Gasol and Conley from MEM.

I would take Conley over Rubio ONLY if we upgrade PF to something with more offensive prowess. If we just added Conley, it's not enough and thus pointless.
