Hood is a better shooter - his numbers are better than when Miles played for us. Hood is also a better passer.

In C.J.'s defense, he's not as streaky a shooter in Indiana - he's a better player for them (than when he played for us) and deserves to be part of their rotation.

But Hood has the capability to have more monster games than C.J.. Because when Hood plays well he can be our best player. Even at his best, Miles doesn't have the talent Hood has when he's on.

And in regards to injury I know Hood has missed 20 games this season but he only missed three last season.

Rodney doesn't chuck enough and plays too good a D to be in the same class as CJ.
 
What is all this "hood plays D nonsense" Comrades, there is a reason Slow Joe gets into the games in the first place. It was because he played D and moved his feet. And whom does he usually replace and start guarding? Hood and Hoods his man.

Friends of jazzfanz, Hood is as good as hood is going to get. He will shoot shots that should have been shot, he will do the strange dribble into the paint a pop up a floater, he will let his man beat him off the dribble. Occasionally he will have a game that blows your mind! then have a string of games that makes him look like a rookie again.

Players can't be aloud to get the "he is only (insert age here) give him time" forever gambit... Eventually hood will be the role player we all know and love in our hearts. he is the guy who when he is hot we say "LET THE MAN SHOOT" but when he is cold he should be benched because unlike Hayward, unlike Rudy and unlike hill. When hood is cold he does nothing else for you. He jsut keeps going 1-7, 1-8 Ooo 2-9... and so on.

I love hood, but Hood and all of jazzdom need to realize his role. #freealec #UntilHeGetsHurtAgain

Michael Redd was a more realistic name that got thrown out early on, although that might be a little lofty now as well. Hood is not showing the year to year improvement Redd did.

How dare you question Alec Burks ... you'll be howled down.

I actually think Burks might be a better/more consistent shooter than Rodney. He just doesn't help his teammates play basketball.

Hood is valuable in that he can create. Nothing like Miles.
 
Take the homer glasses off and its clear that Hood has been disappointing this season. Poor shooting, poor defense, shoots a lot of contested shots (by design?) hes not quite cj level, but yall comparing him to prime redd, lewis, ray allen are going to be very disappointed, hes never performed consistently enough to even sniff their level.

Love this truth
 
I used to think that Hood was better equipped than Hayward to make the jump from role player to go-to guy, because Hood seems to have a better shooting touch. But Hayward clearly worked so hard on his game and his body during the offseason that he was able to make that jump (although his athleticism is somewhat lacking still). Hood, on the other hand, seemed to be basically the same player but now has been plagued by injuries. That is certainly not a good sign coming from a still-young player and it is somewhat worrisome.

Regarding the comparison in question, both Hood and Miles are offensive players that rely heavily on shooting rather than driving or posting up. So, in that regard, is not a completelly nonsensical comparison. That being said, Miles was a lot less effective while playing for the Jazz. He started at the age of 18, but even if we take into account only his last three seasons as a Jazz player, when he was 22, 23 and 24 - which are Hood's ages while playing for the Jazz - Miles is not on par with Hood. Let's see:

Miles (22 years old): 19.2 FGA/100 possessions (13.5 FGA/36 minutes); .515 true shooting; .341 3P%.
Hood (22 years old: 18.7 FGA/100 possessions (12.7 FGA/36 minutes); .529 true shooting; .365 3P%.

Miles (23 years old): 24.1 FGA/100 possessions (16.4 FGA/36 minutes); .507 true shooting; .322 3P%.
Hood (23 years old): 20.2 FGA/100 possessions (13.8 FGA/36 minutes); .542 true shooting; .359 3P%.

Miles (24 years old): 21.3 FGA/100 possessions (14.6 FGA/36 minutes); .484 true shooting; .307 3P%.
Hood (24 years old): 22.2 FGA/100 possessions (15.2 FGA/36 minutes); .528 true shooting; .365 3P%.

So, even though Miles was really really really really really — and I can't stress this enough — inefficient as a shooter, he dared to shoot a lot. He shot so much that in two of the three seasons he shot more often than Hood, who shoots a lot.

One may argue that Miles, despite his absolutelly atrocious true shooting percentages, had value for his three point shot, but even that is inaccurate, since his three point percentages were awfull too.

In conclusion, the similiarities is that both are shooters and not slashers or post players. Also, both had a high usage rate for role players, but Miles in general dared to shoot more often and with disastrous results, while Hood has been able to maintain a fair level of shooting efficiency.

I rest my case.
