He did not get traded to Chicago. He got traded to Memphis, and was injured almost immediately, right before he was due to get his next contract. He was traded for a 1st round pick, because Utah didn't want to pay him his next contract. Plenty of reasons to be bitter.
 
It's not O'Conner's fault that he could tell that Brewer sucked. Wish he would have realized it before they drafted him.

KOC tried negotiating with Brewer and his agent before that season started. It was clear they wanted a lot more than the Jazz were willing to pay. As for Korver, he sacrificed team success for his own personal goals, passing up open looks when the Jazz needed points in order to preserve his 3-Pt % record. Boozer...yeah, the "raise regardless," continually hurt, trip on a gym bag guy.

Do you want Utah to overpay for every one-dimensional player? Yes, let's definitely follow the model of the New York Knicks or Golden State Warriors. Let's hand out big long-term contracts for guys who can't shoot and players who can't/won't defend.

Deron sealed his own fate. Jazz wanted him to stay. All Greg and KOC needed was for him to say he'd remain. BTW, Orlando asked for the same commitment from Howard. That's it. But he wouldn't. And now he's getting ready to screw over the New Jersey franchise. That's perfectly ok; he has every right to decide where he wants to go as a FA. But I'm thankful Utah received Favors, Kanter, Harris and a future GSW draft pick for what amounted to essentially a 1 1/2 year rental. NJ will take YEARS to recover from their bad gamble if he leaves as a FA.

Seriously, KOCBegone, who are you? Are you KOC's ex-wife? Maybe a player he cut or traded, like Brewer, Arroyo, etc. KOC does what every GM in sports does; he looks to improve the team. And EVERY team has turnover. Utah has less than most. You have so much hatred for one man. It's simply not natural unless he offended you personally in some way.

Utah offered him an extension BEFORE the season began. He and his agent rejected the offer. KOC Is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. He gets reamed on the board if he tells FA's to go out and determine their market value if they so choose. But he gets no credit when he tries to negotiate a contract BEFORE a player hits the market. Once the season started, the negotiation period ended by NBA rules, IIRC. Brewer and his agent were FAR apart on what they wanted vs. what the Jazz were willing to pay.

Didn't we all blame RB's lack of outside shooting as one of the primary reasons for the playoff losses to the Lakers? Nice guy, terrible shooter. His injury was unfortunate, coming in a contract year. But that was solely his risk. He could have signed a multi-year contract with Utah BEFORE the season started.
 
Ronnie was an extremely efficient player in Utah and one of the better wings in the NBA at finished around the basket - not just dunks on fastbreak opportunities - he knew when to cut, how to find the soft spot in a zone, and could hang and contort around the rim to get his shot off.

The problem was his offensive effectiveness was dependant upon Mehmet Okur. Nobody was complaining about Brewer's playoff series against LA in 07-08 when he averaged 11 pts on 53% shooting and 80% FT's; It was the 08-09 series which we played predominantly w/out Memo where Brewer shot just 41% and was often dared by Kobe to shoot that the grumbles grew the loudest.

In high screen-roll, Ronnie often played the role of the 5 in the traditional Jazz offense (the dive man) while Memo played the same role as Hornacek (rolling up on the weakside for the 3). When Memo was out there, Brew was extremely effective because Memo's spacing allowed room for Ronnie to slash and cu, often working behind the vision of the defenset. When Collins and Millsap were filling in for Memo, Brewer's lack of perimeter shooting was magnified because neither of Memo's replacements provided the necessary spacing.

Liked Ronnie alot, solid player, played hard, helped us win alot of games but a limited role player and KOC did a nice job getting a future 1st out of a guy who likely wasn't going to be re-signed in the offseason.

I think you misunderstood me, GE. I was just responding to GOS's claim that he had no reason to be bitter. I wasn't suggesting KOC screwed him over, so much as what the reasons were from his perspective. We wouldn't pay him what he thought he was worth, traded him for a draft pick, traded from a playoff team to a crappy team. LOTS of reasons for him to be bitter compared to what GOS thought actually happened. Getting traded is always a slap in the face in to players, just like normal people getting fired. Sometimes players are happy to get out of a bad situation, or go to a better one, but that wasn't the case here, like GOS suggested.

As far as the trade itself, it was a great move. We acquired a pick for a player we weren't going to keep, because we just were'nt in a position to overpay him, even if we had wanted to.

Understood. Yes, and I can understand some bitterness on RB's part - to a point. He had to know after rejecting the offer that a trade would be a possibility.

He gets to play NBA basketball and gets paid millions of dollars, and he isn't even that good.
Yeah, he should be bitter.

And his first team decided that it would better for the team to trade him and let him persue his career elsewhere and find a better player to take his place.
Yeah, good reason to be bitter.

Why can't the Jazz be bitter?

I would be bitter if I paid someone 20 Million to play basketball and they never learned to shoot.
